Chef Kang's Noodle House at Toa Payoh Lor 3

Squirrelled away in some industrial wonderland fronting the sub-arterial Toa Payoh Lorong 3, Chef Kang's Noodle House is one of two guerilla hawker spinoffs from acclaimed restaurateur Ang Song Kang's eponymous Michelin-starred establishment along McKenzie Road (other being Chef Kang's Prawn Noodle House sited close by at 85 Toa Payoh Lorong 4). Its menu offerings couldn't get any leaner: folks may order only char siew wanton noodles ($6), char siew wanton noodles plus shredded abalone ($11) or pork belly char siew served straight up ($12 per plate). Don't expect the culinary maestro himself to stick around these days either, for he has since entrusted all the cooking to a pair of time-tested apprentices - brothers Winson and Frankie Moo who confidently blanched, sieved and tossed their way to a virgin Michelin Bib Gourmand win last year.
