Update: Our iWriteMORE June'13 caters to the Primary 1 and 2 students too!

Are you looking for a writing workshop which offers something different for the upcoming holidays?

If so, our iWriteMORE workshop is the right choice! Using our trademark non-rote learning methods, students across the levels will be brought through the entire narrative writing process , learning the skills necessary for them to be independent and confident writers.

As students move up the levels, the writing topics also gradually increase in difficulty level through the difference in writing formats.

As such, we understand that regardless of the level, writing is a challenge for students due to the different and varied difficulties faced at every level.

Because of this, we offer a range of preparatory writing workshops for students to enter the next level, better-equipped in their understanding of the writing requirements.

We believe that for beginning writers in Primary 1 and 2, learning how to plan the flow of a story is most essential . Being able to write a story with a good sequential flow will pave the way for a better-organised story as they progress up the levels. Also, the inclusion of necessary details is focused on as the young students start to evaluate their ideas and consider the necessity of details - what should and should not be included in the story and why.

Typically, young writers in Primary 3 and 4 have minimal understanding of the requirements of narrative writing. As such, the narrative writing structure is emphasized as the students are brought through each and every one of the narrative writing component required to form a story. From the idea generation to the execution, every step is precisely-guided.

For Primary 5 and Primary 6 students , the narrative writing structure is less of a mystery. As such, the demands are higher as students focus on producing stories using mark-scoring plots for their ideas and advanced writing techniques for a sophisticated finish.

For all levels, the suitable vocabulary and grammatical components are also incorporated to advance the writing process.

"Last year, while in Primary 3, Ben did not like to write compositions. He
faced difficulty in coming up with a flowing and coherent storyline based on
the 3 pictures provided as well as a reasonable conclusion to his story.
Also, he would often repeat simple words in his composition (e.g. said,
walked, ran), despite having above average vocabulary.

In the beginning of this year, Ben started writing lessons with CreativEdge.
Through the structured and systematic approach to composition writing and
guidance to use different 'action' and 'emotive' words taught in the
lessons, Ben's confidence in composition writing grew. From taking more than
one and a half hour to write one composition with adult supervision and
guidance, he now takes about forty-five minutes to write one INDEPENDENTLY.
    His composition grade for this year's year-end examinations is a 'B' (16-17
marks), a marked improvement from the 'F' grade (5 - 11 marks) when he first
started (grade is based on CreativEdge's rubric for composition writing).
Naturally, we are very pleased with his progress. "

"This is the centre which your child should come to if he/she is facing difficulties in writing compositions. During the programme, my child was taught the necessary writing techniques. She was then able to master the techniques and with practice, she was able to write her compositions with confidence, with a good flow of ideas in her writing. I am happy with the teacher’s diligence in her teaching as well as her patience."

    iWriteYOUNG
    foundation programme

Building the foundation for mid-primary writing
(Primary 1 and Primary 2 as of Y2013)

The focal point of our iWriteYoung foundation programme is the developing of story content through the introduction and reinforcement of the necessary writing skills.

With the objective of training young writers with an eye for detail, the programme emphasizes story logic through planning and training of thinking skills to craft stories with logically sequential details.

Beyond the planning of stories, proper execution of the individual writing components necessary for the writing of each story is also consistently reinforced as students are guided through the guidelines and self-questions in order to internalise the writing strategies taught.

With each lesson taking place on a fortnightly basis, our iWriteYOUNG foundation programme is ideal for parents who would like to prepare their Primary 1 and early-Primary 2 children through regular practice and reinforcement of the necessary writing skills as well as the sharpening of thinking skills , albeit at a more leisurely pace

Please contact our Administration Office at +65-63385657 or email us at enquiry@creative-ed.net for schedule details.

    iWriteYOUNG
    bridging programme

The complete solution for bridging the gap between lower and mid-primary level writing

Very often, during our diagnostics sessions, parents of Primary 3 students share the following scenario:

“My child was scoring relatively well at the lower primary level. Upon reaching Primary 3, I was quite shocked when his composition grades plummet. He is quite upset and doesn’t understand why he no longer scores well for his composition.”

Suddenly, writing grammatically-correct sentences is no longer good enough. Students have to quickly grasp the content and language requirements, necessary for the mid-primary levels and beyond.

Why wait till then to address the typical problems?

Our iWriteYoung bridging programme provides the solution for a smooth transition from lower to mid-primary level writing.

Focusing on the requirements of writing at the Primary 3 level, the programme focuses on both the content and language requirements necessary to excel at the mid-primary level.

In line with the plot emphasis for Primary 3 onwards, the programme focuses on the creation of non-conventional storylines . Using their critical thinking skills, students are guided through the evaluation of the content to create vividly-written stories with logically-sequential details.

All language components necessary for the writing of stories are covered as students are introduced to the necessary vocabulary which is then reinforced to ensure confidence in application. Grammatical components such as sentence structures are also similarly introduced and reinforced to ensure sentence fluency.

Please contact our Administration Office at +65-63385657 or email us at enquiry@creative-ed.net for schedule details.
