Does any Mummies or Daddies here do stock trading?

Hi all,

As per the title, can anyone share their stocks trading experience?

Reason is because hubby and I would like to invest in stocks but don't know where to start with. Heard from colleagues it is cheaper to open an investment account with banks rather with SGX itself. Izzit true?

And what do we need to look out for when doing stocks trading?

1 lot is equals to 1000 shares right? Which means to say for eg, this company shares is $1.50, so $1.50 x 1000= $1500 per lot?

What is the minimum lots we can trade?

People get burnt when they buy stocks of companies that they don't understand or recommended by a friend, they also overtrade also.
Try getting the Straits times Exchange Traded Fund. That fund represents the 30 stocks in the Straits times Index.
