Yes, ahwang, don't stress over it. I'm doing exclusive pumping and feed baby on fm and ebm through bottle. It's definitely fine, don't get yourself stress over it, might affect supply. I feel satisfied seeing the real milk pump out. I don't latch her as she will want it for comfort sucking. After about a week without latching, she knows it and didn't cry for comfort sucking, but want people to rock her. Baby is so unpredictable.

Felicity, can understand the frustration. Especially when my in law stay on level 4, beside a busy road. Sometimes, a horn or motorbike or grass cutting can be so annoying.

Rodorsany, don't be upset. Know it's stressful ESP when u have 2 kids.. Jiayou!!! Hugs..

Wah been a week since I made any posting.. E last time I posted I was crying cos mother in law wasted my ebm amounted to 100ml. Was really piss.. Cried n lock baby n I in e room. So did not have time to pump n drink water..etc then after that I realised I shld really not hurt myself by doing so cos that wk after CL left it was mother in law n me.. Alot of friction n I wasn't happy end up my milk supply really dropped drastically... From 100ml that I can pump each side I only managed to squeeze 50ml each side. Yes that's like half e Amt!!! So mayb conclusion is try not to cry too much n drink more water.

cl was back this wk (got her back cos I had to attend company workshop for 3days n I really can't trust m mother in law alone with e baby) thank goodness she came to my rescue.. Whether its due to her or what.. She made alot of tonic soup n in 2days I managed to regain back to my 100ml supply although now hardly (or rather no longer) can hit 150ml one side. ;( so mummies drink more water!!

Tml will b my last day at course n seriously I think I will have a tough time to start wk officially in nov.. Yesterday after my course ended at 7pm I straight away called for cab cos I miss my boy sooo much!! Managed to latch him once yesterday.. Think he really can sense my nipple smell. The moment I carried him his face turned to my breast n mouth was searching for my nipple!!! (although he only had his milk an hr ago) then he started crying softly.. So poor thing but CL says dont't feed him, wait overfeed he vomit again. So when CL carried my boy, he really stop searching for e nipple!! So amazing! Hehe no wonder mrs Wong boi boi says e smell of e nipple is very powerful...

Bringing pump to work is no joke.. Had to carry e ice pack n a flask of hot water (to sterilized e pump cos I need to pump twice in e day) n a flask of longan water to drink.., n had to pump in e toilet cubicle.. No choice. But luckily e toilets there r clean..

Ok I update again tml. Eyes closing alrdy..
oh piglim!! I'm so so sorry to hear about your mum in law. it's especially tricky when it's in laws and not your own mum.. oh dear. and yes meltied, piglim, all of you mums.. we all know how precious breast milk is. I still cannot believe I threw away mine (about 100ml in total) a week+ ago and now I regret it sorely. yes it is like blood donation.. every drop counts. and I got into a quarrel with husband cos I thought he was wasting bm when he tried to bottle feed baby, with the drops of milk dribbling down baby's mouth, argh!

piglim: I don't think it's cos your CL is back and your milk supply went up. I believe milk supply kicks up a lot in end of week 1 and 2, but it will drop after that to more 'normal' levels. that's what I went through.. and it seems common (I read up about it). initially the body produces more, then levels off.. so it seems like it's much less now, but 100ml is still great.

I also find that I produce more milk first thing in the morning, or in middle of the night.. so I will wake my baby to drink even if she was still sleeping! she's been sleeping 6 hours through the night! any other babies like mine?

so don't wory too much about milk production. let your baby suckle, as that would stimulate more milk, drink more water to replenish your own fluids, and eat healthily. hang in there!

and as for your mum in law, maybe must give instructions that are almost insulting. like, pour out the milk for her and label it.. etc

Aiyo Piglim *hugs* Your mother in law is really not helping ... why not your hubby you n your mother in law sit down n have a talk? To lay out the feeding rules? Sigh to hear the waste of ebm... only mothers understand how hard it is to pump out.. like donate blood like that..

Hey felicity, i think you can complain to town council or something, by right after 10.30pm should lower noise level right? hmm if not maybe you can try to close your window abit?

Mummies, i'm just wondering do you let your baby sleep aircon? what temperature and what attire?
If no aircon, normal hot and humid night with not much wind, what attire do you let your baby wear to sleep? Assume there's a small fan to circulate air, not directed at cot?
My mother in law wants baby to be covered frm head to toe..must wear long sleeve pj, swaddle , mittens, socks and hat.. she say hat most impt, to protect head from wind, for good brain development.. but i on fan only, swaddle somemore.. i think baby will overheat... i myself also sweat in the room... tomorrow my baby come home, i'm wondering if i shld swaddle (i think my swaddle frm SwaddleMe brand is abit too thick, maybe shld go find nappy cloth kind, thinner). Any of your bbs covers head to sleep?
hahaha!! I don't know why chinese people believe in covering babies from head to toe!!! my friend's baby was wrapped up in full onesie, with mittens, socks, and even two blankets on top of him, in only with a fan! no air con! good grief. the poor baby.

my baby sleeps in the air con with me. with it turned on, I dress her in a romper, but long sleeves and leggings, sometimes it comes with its own mittens or socks. but that's for air con. in the day, if it's not too hot, I'll use the fan - I turn on ALL the fans in the sitting room, and even have a mini fan blowing directly at her. she is usually only in her diapers, or at most a thin swaddling muslin blanket. my mum came to visit and kept nagging at me to put clothes on her. I was like... she's too hot... even with the thin blanket, when she fussed for milk, and I unwrapped her and picked her up, she was perspiring, and very warm. I felt so bad for her.

so please, don't believe in the chinese saying of wrapping up baby. it's truly ridiculous.

My baby can't latch on... Does it mean my mill will reduce soon ad baby not latching to stimulate my milk supply. Any one whose baby cant latch ? I been trying n felt so upsets. Most of have baby wanting to latch n suckle so much but not for my case. Also baby drink every 2 Hr whole day really can't sleep.
ahwang: if your baby can't latch on (have you tried consulting a lactation specialist?), then pump. pump all the way! pump every 3 hours. and at night 4 -5 hours at least once too. that way, your milk supply WILL keep up. I have a friend who pumped exclusively and fed only ebm, no formula. she did that for close to six months! no problem!

I also try to pump when I can. if my baby seems full after one breast and wants to sleep, I'll defiintely pump the other breast. sometimes she doesnt[ feed for long, I'll pump whatever is remaining in my breasts! keep the stimulation up, and milk supply will keep up.

Wow.. so many posts that i have missed out since i delivered my baby.. Been so so busy settling down with motherhood and confinement. I'm dead tired and lack of sleep.. sorry for being MIA..

Anyway, a lil update while waiting for my massage lady to come over. CONFINEMENT SUCKSSSS!!!!!!

Who here plan not to wash hair for full 30 days or 40 days? Or for those who already finished their confinement period, did u really not washing hair at all?!?! My hair is crazily oily now and it has just been 10 days!! My mum asked me not to wash hair for 40 days, but when she saw keep scratching my head with tissue and see the oil on the tissue, i guess she finally gave in to let me wash hair.. But i feel so bad!! She's like trying her best for my own good, but goshh... i really cant stand it. Especially because i sweat whole day even after bathing. But at least i still can bathe everyday once, i heard some people from other forum didnt even bathe at all and only wipe off their body.. sighz

Why must confinement exists?!?! As if labour and motherhood itself not enough for us?!?! Because i kept feeling sweaty, i cant really accompany my baby all the time. I stayed inn aircon room most of the time, and it seems like my baby doesnt really like aircon.. sighz..

Yup, my baby cant latch for long too. She only latch on one side and if can get around 10mins, that would be a big bonus for me. Even so, my breast will still be quite full. So mostly now, i just pump out one side, then the other side wait to see if she wakes up and wanna latch. If dont, then i will pump out.

I'm quite worried because at day 10 now, she still quite sleepy for most of the time. during latching she also can fall asleep one. Previously she got high jaundice, so i thought probably because of that. then last week, she was hospitalized and her jaundice level went down, but still very sleepy. kinda scared that her jaundice level might peak up again..

Ya I keep pumping, and storing.. but exclusive pumping is tiring as time spent on washing bottles. My boy also sleep when drinking... Always fell asleep halfway into the feed. So I also don't dare use my fm feed him in case he wasted itn fm can Stoll keep in room temperatiure for an hour. He can sometimes wake up 30min after last feed for a small feed of 30ml... Do u all have this prob? When he cry in the middle.of his slp I ignore and let him cry until very sure he wanna feed again cos its just 30 min after his last fed.

Hi mummies.. The thread is moving fast..

Ahwang, my bb oso went thru the phase of dun wanna latch sometime in week 2.. ur bb now oso week 2 right? Mayb it's a passing phase.. Just continue to pump if bb dun wan to suckle..

I'm a bit depressed over my milk production.. Volume has decreased significantly.. I noe it is normal for milk supply to drop but now I'm afraid I can't produce enuff for bb.. Sobz.. And it doesn't help that bb seems to be on a growth spurt so I keep latching her between feeds.. After latching, the amount that I pump out is miserable.. And even after latching, she will still cry for ebm 2.5hrs after her last ebm feed even though I latch her in between..

I noe there is nothing wrong with fm, but I wan to give her breastmilk as far as possible.. Sighz.. Is there any other way to boost milk supply? I'm seriously contemplating buying a whole load of green papaya to boil soup and drink daily le.. :(

Hi u can ask ur gynae for motilium, ny gynae gave me 1mth supply to boost breastmilk and I think it helps. Without this, I might have even lesser milk.

maybe it's cluster feeding? I find that my baby naturally cluster feeds at night - ie feed more often, demanding more, then she sleeps through 4, 5, or even 6 hours! so maybe your baby is doing that?
