Hello justforgags, I heard that accupuncture can help to improve blood circulation by releasing some blood pressure points and also improve the "qi". It also regulates the menses and increase the uterus lining which is good for implantation. For the men, it can improve the sperm count and motility. TCM docs also look at your profile and reports before deciding on the chinese med. Anyway, for my case, no harm to try lah and see whether it works.

How much was your acupuncture per session? Eu Yang Sang's one is about $30/session. I was wondering what price other sinseh charge.

Hi

I read a lot from forums that the Dr at JE TCM will always ask patients to go to the 2 recommended gynae to see? So what if we already have our own gynae? Will she insists that we go to see her recommended ones?

She recommends Chris Chen becoz in her expert opinion:
1) the "clean-up" surgery is absolutely necessary
2) Chris Chen is one of the best ... if not the best

IMHO, Chris Chen is a fertility specialist ... compared to most gynaes who handle more normal pregnancies, he would have had more experience & more frequent practice in terms of "clean-up" surgeries.

If you choose not to follow her directions, there is really nothing this sinseh can do too ... but should your regular gynae turn out NOT to be as competent & end up you still can't conceive, then how?

I'm not trying to "scare" you ... but personally, I think such "clean-up" surgeries are highly precise procedures (almost like operating on the brain itself).
Take for example, if you perform a surgery to remove a bad body part ... it is just cut & sew up ... you either lose its original function or you rely on gadget/therapy to preserve that function, but in a more or less compromised state.

In contrast, removing a cyst inside an ovary or on the womb ... the really good surgeons will ensure that no harm is done to the ovary or the womb, plus allowed to heal properly so that the previously compressed cell tissues inside regain their elasticity ... so that they can still perform their original function, ie to allow you to conceive.

For your info, my wifey was first diagnosed with a dermoid cyst in one of her ovaries by her regular gynae (a Prof in NUH, no less) ... we went to the sinseh for a 2nd opinion & that's when I was totally bowled over by her proficiency: becoz without me even hinting (I said we just wanna be sure we can TTC), she was able to tell us of the dermoid cyst just by her "piano-playing" reading on my wifey's pulses.

She also recommended Chris Chen to us, with the additional info that he's not gonna come cheap. I also questioned her if this was really necessary ... in the end, my wifey was cleaned up by Chris Chen in Feb 06 & after 3 months of recuperation, she was pregnant with Seamus by Jun 06.
Surgery costs came to some $11k ... after insurance claims, we still had to fork out some $4k. However, it was a decision we both never regretted.

Where her regular gynae was concerned, we just told her that my in-laws were pretty concerned ... & that they insisted on my wifey go get a 2nd opinion from Chris Chen, ending up with them insisting on sponsoring the surgery to be done by Chris Chen too.
Of course this was all bullshit ... but it helped in ensuring we still enjoy a very good trusting relationship with her regular gynae, who took care of my wifey through both pregnancies.

For children, the sinseh still treat ... but I dun think you need to go through the hassle of travelling all the way to JE, early in the morning to get a number & wait until they call you for your turn.

Instead, I suggest you seek consultation at 余仁生 or 马光 ... which has branches all over the island, so there should be one that's near where you stay.

YOu can consider Ban Choon Chan at Marine Parade Central (opposite the NTUC), old Chinese Medicine Hall, with a chinese physician inside, its pretty popular with long queues esp on wkends. We conceived in the month after trying their TCM herbs, in combination with ovulation timing etc (we had been doing the ovulation timing etc for a few mths before).

One thing about this Ban Choon Chan, Charges are v. reasonable, $30+ for the herbs, they do not charge if you don't take the TCM herbs, consultation is free, not at all money-minded.
