Ang Ku Kueh is a traditional nonya kueh which is moulded to resemble a tortoise’s shell. The shape signifies longevity, high symbolic and ritual values as turtles have long lives. They are used for ritual offerings during religious events and as gifts when a child is born (one month old) or during birthdays.

Eating red tortoise cakes during these times are meant to represent blessings for the child and longevity for the elderly.
