How long does it take to get a place in infant care/child care?

i just saw this article so just to share...
Diva - Many infant care centres but no vacancies

i've heard from some of my close girlfriends that they have been waiting for up to a year or more as the waiting list is super long, while they only want to go for places that are convenient, obviously for convenience sake as we will hv to travel to and fro everyday for the child... some of my friends had to take unpaid leave to stay at home to take care of their babies as no other help is available, while waiting for a place in infant care/childcare. how long did you have to wait?

actually I found one within one to two weeks , they are quite new (1 year ). They still have vacancy and they are near my office.

that's great! i think my friends all staying in areas with lots of kids and everyone is fighting for a vacancy in the most convenient childcare centre!
