Hi all,

My bb is only 3 weeks old and recently I realised that she has mucus on both nostrils. It's has blocked her nose and make her difficult in breathing/sleeping. Any solutions or matters to clear the mucus?

FYI, we have seen normal GP, but they only give running nose and clear the phelgm medicine.

Hi Vivian,

You might want to go guardian to get this nose drop Iliadin....you have to use it consecutively for 3-4 days after that stop using it. Tht time my son uses this and it sort of dried up the mucus....

But one of my friend uses it on her daughter and it does not work.....if your daughter still does not recover, please bring her to see a PD instead cos' PD is more specialised in treating bbs & children

a 3 weeks old baby might be too young for the running nose med..

And yes, agreed with phoebii, pls bring your baby to a pd instead of a gp..

i agree with the rest. 3 week old abit too young for such medi. we once brought ds to a GP when he was 2week old but GP refuse to check on him, he told us to go to a PD instead.

For mucus, take a cotton bud w those pointed ends type, Pigeon has it to wipe. If it's hard, try spraying Sterimar (can be bought in pharmacy) into the nostrils then wipe with cotton bud.

Try to do it slowly since your baby is only 3 weeks old to avoid hurting her. :)

is ur baby breathing well? actu if she can breathe well, means she is okay, just tt the mucus has to be cleared, u can try Autumn's method. usually aft the mucus is cleared, everything is okay. dun nd see doc or what unless the mucus is affecting her breathing and is too deep that u have difficulties removing it.

first i spray baby's nostrils with sterimar. one at a time and allow time for baby is catch her breath before spraying the other nostril. then i'll suck out the muscus with a nasal aspirator. Both can get at the pharmacy. Note that sterimar has a special spray for babies. don't use the normal one for adult, might hurt baby.

yup agree with the rest, see pediatrician if worry...

our baby also had such situation. for a week or two. eventually they will harden and drop off on their own. we were advise not try to stick anything into their noses (especially at such a young age), as the stuff may go further into the nose.
