hi ladies,

been to my appointment and then doc said must wait till my next period come next month to decide the dosage of my jab of puregon (thru puregon pen done at home by myself or hubby). Anyone tried the nasal spray of GnRH or puregon jabs yet? Any discomfort or side effects so far?

Have just book my appointment for KKHIVF during October. I was attached to Dr Matthew Lau. Don't know if he is good, thought of changing gynae but my DH says not necessary. Has anyone attached to him before for IVF?

Hi ladies!

I will be going for my very first attempt at IUI this month with Dr. LC Foong at Gleneagles - any tips to give me or any one who has gone to see him before and would like to share some advise? In fact, any general advice would be appreciated.

My husband has a high sperm count but very low morphology (only 1% normal). We have been trying to conceive for 7 months without success until we found out this was the root cause. I felt more discouraged than my husband. :( We finally went to see an andrologist who referred us to Dr.Foong.

We initially wanted to opt for IVF/ICSI immediately but Dr.Foong (after analysing my husband's semen results and after performing a womb scan on me) concluded that it would be best for us to at LEAST TRY IUI first before we jump the gun. He is a very positive, pleasant and warm doctor. He focussed more on the positive aspects of our situation (I have a healthy egg reserve, healthy womb, husband has high sperm count, and all we need is 1 good sperm yes???) :) I really felt much better after seeing him.

Anyway it just so happens that I am at CD2 of my period now. I can test for ovulation soon and we'll have first attempt this month (if all goes well). Keeping my fingers crossed and praying hard for success. I heard that IUI's success rate is very low.. but well, I guess it's always worth a shot right? :) If this doesn't work then we will probably move on to IVF / ICSI!

Does anyone know the difference between IVF and ICSI?

To all mummies and mummies-to-be TCC / expecting, best of luck !!!

Hi Prawn - So sorry to hear about your bad experience. Good to know you have a plan in place for the next steps ! :) I was referred to Dr LC Foong at Gleaneagles. He is with O&G Partners Clinic for Women. If you are thinking of doing IVF, I think this is a good place because one of the doctor's there (Prof Ng Soon Chye) performed the very first successful IVF baby in Asia and he was also featured in the papers as one of the 'fathers'of IVF:) - so i am pretty sure they are all quite senior and experienced in this field. As for my doctor, so far, he has been very patient with my husband and I, explaining all the options to us and has been very clear and encouraging in his advice. As I have yet to go through the actual IUI process - it's hard to tell how much better/ worse the service could get! Will let you know in the next couple of weeks :)

Any advice you could give pertaining to IUI? The issue lies with my husband (he has very poor morphology 1% only).

Was your doctor good? how much did you spend in total for your iui? did you do injectables fsh or clomid? Were you on progesterone too? Sorry for so many questions! Trying to find a good and affordable doctor. :) Thanks!

Anyone heard of retroverted uterus or have the condition?
Hi Csense :) I have a retroverted uterus too. :) Both my gynae and fertility specialist told me that retroverted uterus will not and should not affect chances of conceiving. 15% of women get it and some gynaes recommend tilting the pelvic area upwards slightly during intercourse so it's a better angle for the the sperm to reach the egg. I also know people who have a retroverted uterus and conceived successfully ;)

Relax viv. Also plan something everyday, simple things like going shopping, cinema and having your nails done to look forward to, so you'll be distracted.

They say being happy increases the chances, so watch some comedy TVs:001_302:

Good luck.
