Hi ,
I am new to the forum. Would like some advice with regards to the KKH Maternity Package. I am classed as private patient and seeing Dr. Varasha Mulik. am expecting twins in sept. Would like to know if anyone can adv me about the total bill for delivery for either A1 or B1 ward. How much cash upfront was paid and and how much Medisave was deducted. Any other adv on the cost is also appreciated. thank you in advance.

True.. But since ur gynae is in KKH and if you prefer privacy, I would suggest A1 ward. If you take B1, no privacy at all plus hubby can't stay with you. At least A1 ward, ur twins can room in with you and ur guests can stay in ur ward even after 9pm. I paid $2.5k for A1 ward last Aug but that is single normal pregnancy. Not sure for multiple pregnancy though.

Thanks for the reply. I was also thinking of the privacy factor also but the its going to be costly.

When I was almost due, I had the same problem.. Torn between A1 and B1 because the difference is abt $700. But my colleagues told me, if I don't mind sharing toilets, having guests from other patients visiting them and hiding behind the curtains for privacy then B1 would be fine. After hearing that, I immediately told my husband I want A1 coz I don't wish to be disturbed by strangers. I had a pleasant stay in A1 ward and the nurses are very caring.

I went visited my friend in kk. 6 beds. the urine smell was quite strong in the ward as some of the new-ly promoted mum are having difficulty getting down the bed for toilet..

After leavign wife also told me she want 1beded room.

my dear, dont worry about the bills, enjoy the process and have a smooth delivery!

We had our bills from Mt Al and our baby is in ICU for a week (emergency C-sect) and whatever tools you named it, we have used it during the delivery. After the deductions from Medisave, we have to fork out 6 k plus in total(installment available). Luckily our Baby is growing well:D

so when we were looking back of what we have spent (2 Bedded), we discussed that we should have just opt for single room instead :D

Does this make you feel more relaxed and a change of mind to Mt A? in fact, you will be overwhelmed by the service offered by private hospital at the similar cost. (Mt a should give me commission)

but of course, it also depends on your gynae charges. it would be also good to understand from your gynae what charges would he or she charge when things are not usual way:D

One thing to take note of after giving birth if you want to save costs.

Don't keep pressing the ask for asisstance button unless you are.. that will add up most of service charges.. get someone to go get the baby or get the nurse t come in. my wife service charge added up to $500+. She was a little upset over it though I was the one paying

Err I don't remember KK having service charges.. I did press the button for assistance a few times and didn't see that in the bill.. Anyway, it's best to ask the finance dept when u book the ward. Usually ard 36 weeks onwards.

I dont't have any service charge for my Kandang Kerbau Hospital bill and I do press a few times for the bells. And working in various hospitals before, from what I know is Mount E does charges call bell services.

For my KKH bill i think I got mention previously in other post but my bill was in 2011 so I'm not sure how is it now, if I remember correctly we paid 2k plus after all the subsidies. We are staying in A1 ward, by normal delivery no epidural.

Is'nt it no pain without epidural ? I still can't decide wether to stay A1 or b2..

I have decided on A1 even thou my EDD is in Oct.

my friend who give birth in mount A have very bad experience when a going give birth mom adjusted the aircon to very low temperature even my friend baby is inside. so i think i rather pay more for that privacy.
As for switching hospital, my friends all recommend KKH as they have the full facility required. so even if you are at mount A and you require special equipment, they will still transfer you to KKH..

Home - KK Women's and Children's Hospital

you can compare the price under maternity package :)

Hi, i'm looking at shortlisting a doctor at KK - can you pls let me know a litle more about your experience with Dr. Varsha Mulik. Havent seen much about her on the forum. Experience, expertise etc? Does she listen patiently and answer your questions? Are visits very rushed? Do you feel comfortable?

I'm having twins and this is my first time.

thanks.

She is quite a patient doctor and she will listen to u attentively but at times she will also rush you as she has got a lot of patients and she only has clinic on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I booked her because my previous doc recommended her and said she was a twins specialist. She will book all your appointments early for twin birth. I hope this helps. All the best .
