hi Jo

Haven't discussed in detail with teacher cos we'll be trying out on Christine and a few special needs kids in Nov-Dec.

Normally, children can be prepped at 2.5 yr. Typically, numeration set notions are introduced at age 3.

Basic curriculum is for the child to play around with concrete manipulatives (Montessori sensorial materials) & discover perceptual and spatial relationships.

a) One-to-One Correspondence
b) Books - Counting
c) Songs eg 3 Little Speckled Frogs, 5 monkeys song
d) Sorting/Classification
e) Sequence/Patterns
f) Sequence/Seriation

Christine can rote-count to 3. Sometimes she misses some numbers from 0-10. She can recognise numbers 1-10; of course, sometimes she forgets too. :tlaugh:

Prepwork
I've just introduced patterns in her playgroup - spots & stripes this week. We did fish theme. cut-out from paper plates, colour, draw lines, pasted stickers. play with different types of fish and "sort" them. she's too busy playing lah.

Other activities
- Will let her play with toy clock. Somehow, she likes clocks. One of her first words is clock.
- other helpful concepts: many/few
She loves making handprints & playing with paint. messy
- stacking blocks of different sizes

Some modification may be required cos she's only 18 mth.

I may consider offering free extra sessions for pioneer batch if toddlers can't recall. Normally, toddlers below 2 yrs old, are unable to recall much of a weekly lesson. That's why most toddler phonic programmes only intro 1 letter per lesson.

Our preschool special needs kids can remember their weekly lessons. Not sure if regular toddlers can do that...

But I think Net will have no issues :001_302:

Hi,
Any lessons in weekends?

Is it a accompanied lesson?

Thanks :)
Hi

thanks for yr enquiry.

Lessons are conducted on weekdays only. These are drop-off lessons as Montessori education encourages a child to explore, discover and learn.

For two to three year-olds, there is usu a theme to go along with lessons such as bus and animals.

regards,
Ping
