For example, someone won the lottery. He went to the lotto place which has 8 counters. He went to that place say at 12:05 p.m. Why is it only this guy won and not other people? Because this guy (who has a birth date) went to the right place and picked up the ticket at the right time. Simple enough.
For those thinking fate cannot be changed - YES and NO. To a certain degree, due to what you have done in your past life (and this life too), certain things are destined to happen. But Fengshui can help to change it too.
