which hospital u're going to? KKH? or u pte hospital? if KKH u can choose to see the same gynae every visit but the rate will be consider as pte rate. under subsidised, u will see different doctors every visit, the price is much more cheaper but the waiting time is a killer!!! KKH 'pte' gynae dont have any package whilemost pte hospital gynae (lik TMC, Mt A) have package e.g $700 from 12th week till u deliver including consultations, scan etc.. some gynae package is cheaper lik 600 while some abit more ex. =)

intending to go polyclinic to get referral letter to KKH. heard that, as a subsidized patient at KKH and if i want a fixed doc, need to pay a little more.

pte gynae has pkg costing $588.50 (starts from wk 16) at gleneagles. if i engaging this pte gynae, i will choose to give birth at mount alvernia.

dunno which is more cost efficient. wondering if the subsidized visits (with fixed doc) to KKH will add up to more than $588.50

dont forget, each pte visit consultation will cost at least $60 - $100++ depends on how 'highend' the gynae is. with a package, is much more worth it. cos u just have to pay for the supplements and fish oil for each visit. I personally dont have good experience with KKH subsidised department and I feel that if i were to pay that amount of price at KKH pte clinic, I might as well go to pte hospital. =)

when i was 1st preg, i got referred letter to go KKH sub clinic cos during that time i didnt noe where shd i go and didnt noe what is the 'procedures' to go to pte gynae and my family suggested me going to KKH to check 1st.

During the 1st and LAST checkup over there, i waited for very long. My appt was supposed to be at 9.30am and i reached slightly earlier but only at ard 1.30pm then i get to see the doc. and when i asked the doc some stuffs, she only ans "i not sure..." "shd be okay..." that's all! of cos i dont expect perfect service at sub clinic since the staff are so busy alrdy but the i expect the doc to at least able to ans my qns related to pregnancy but sad to say, she cant.

and when i went for the scan, the staff was VERY ROUGH and refused to let my mum acc me. I did vagina scan since my bb was still small and she was so rough that i nearly scream! Still got the nerve to ask e stop moving. I was having v bad MS tt time and cant afford to wait few hrs for each visit.

And from what we were told if we want to see a better gynae over there, or rather, the same gynae during every visit, we have to pay more and my mum told me to just go to pte hospital. seriously i think TPS (the pte suite at KK) charge ard the same as pte gynae but as for the delivery fee, i not sure alrdy, u might wan to check the other threads? if u wish to go KKH, i suggest u to go to TPS and see the same gynae everytime and i heard tt the waiting time there is better than the sub clinic.

Anw, it all depends on individual. my fren went to the sub clinic, she feels that she is okay with the waiting period and okay with seeing different doctors every visit.. =)

I don't know whether can see the same gynae at subsidised rate but for my case as a private patient seeing senior consultant, cost about $1100 for consultations and detail scans before my delivery.

In my opinion if you are able to afford it,go ahead and get a private one.
With more personalized care and hopefully shorter waiting times ,I for one think its money well spent!

hi.. yes, i agree with you on the waiting time.
Service wise, think have to really depends on luck. Made a private gynae and his nurses whom spoiled the whole joy of finding out about the pregnancy. Paid $$$ and got extremely lousy service.

Actually it all depends, I have waited for 2 hrs to see private gynae at private clinic before. The wait is horrid.

Now I decided to choose TPS - KKH. I think KKH is very smart to implement this scheme, the waiting time is definitely shorter than their specialist centres at KKH. However in terms of cost, it's the same as private gynae at private hospital/clinic.

I choose KKH becos its 24 hrs. Anything wrong, I just rush down to KKH and they will have my records. (just 2 cents worth) At the end of the day, it all depends on you.:001_302:

I agree with pipilili. My previous pregnancy was with a private gynae at a private hospital. And I normally have to wait for an hour or sometimes 2 before I could see him. I even took a one-bedded ward in a private hospital too, but Ive seen the wards at TPS and they look nicer than the one I was in!

Im now pregnant again and this time, Im seeing a gynae from TPS. Ive decided to change hospitals this time coz I'm impressed with KKH staff (caring, compassionate, friendly) when I stayed there with my baby for one whole month when my baby had meningitis a week after he was born. And I feel that this gynae Im seeing is better than the private one. So I guess private DOES NOT mean better. :D

But then again, that remains to be seen.
