Rough behaviour since attending infant care

Hi mummies,

Need some input here. My toddler 17+ month just started attending infact care for a few days. But I notice that he becomes more bad tempered and rough when he comes home. If we dont't let him have things his way, he will be very angry and start to throw things around. Also, when at the infant care he always sleep but he doesn't sleep that much when he's at home during the day.

Is this normal?

For how long is he in cc?He need sometimes to adjust ,talk to the person-in-charge,or visit him during the day,see if ur baby really sleeps alot,or most babies also, then there must be something wrong.Btw where is ur cc.

My toddler goes childcare has a fall and bang head on floor, according to teacher. When asked the childcare person in charged, we heard that our baby threw tantrum there, threw crayons all over, run off and fall down from the seat.

Wonder how do childcare teachers normally deal with such tantrum? Or just let toddlers threw tantrum and fall down their own problem?

Hi hpc, now almost 2 weeks already. Still the same till now... i guess the infant care might be too boring already, not much activities/interactions with teachers or other babies, most of the time he plays on his own.

Hi Ester,ur boy needs sometimes to get use to cc,have a talk to the principal, ask her/him how is he in school, pay more attention to him if needs to for the time being. If he is still like that then u find other options.Do he have any toys/soft toys that he likes, maybe bring 1 item for him to play or cuddle.Check his sleeping time/eating habit with them, see what went wrong.

Don't think you can ask teachers to pay more attention if the teachers there are busy with the rest of the students, at least that's what happen to our childcare. The principal says no 1-1 attention. Have withdraw my baby, the principal seems in some hurry to "get rid" of my child by allowing us to not serve notice and give back the deposit. Also good as I think our baby will be in safe place, as we can always place in the bedroom and have some sort of "time out" in this way.

Yes ,its true no 1-1 in cc,but case to case.If ur babe isn't like that before sending them to cc,then either they cannot adopt to school or have autism problem. Can bring them to specialist for a check to see if they have short concentration span/hyper active.Get advise from them on how to handle these kids, weather suitable to go cc.

Having negative behavior is one of the ways a child expresses himself. Most likely is due to change ie: going to child care & being away from mummy.

At the infant care I believe he sleeps more because they have a schedule so they try to make all the babies sleep at the same time.

I only sent my girl to child care when she turned 18 months so maybe different case.

My baby is kind of "stubborn" in a way that refusing to follow us when we said NO. Have been this way since 6 mths old till now. Now is slightly much more harder as know how to walk about and run. Running fast to the places where the tv is there. Pointing and pointing, when we said NO, catch baby to bedroom to read, the whining and screaming came. Sometimes when caught playing with door, we said NO, baby will have continue playing to make us angry. Ignoring sometimes will be better. Of give specific instruction like NO, go and play with toys, then try distracting baby.

Not sure on hyper active, as I remember when I was young I am also run about. haha... Got lots of scars around to show.
