I have a 18 year old son who has completed 'A' levels and awaiting entry into full time national service in the next two weeks.
Recently, he mentioned he wanted to travel to Japan for one week with a friend in the next two weeks just before going for NS. He did not give me much details about the trip or who he is going, etc.
I later found out that this 'friend' is actually an Indian female secondary school classmate. When asked if this is his 'girl friend', my son said '...no...just an ok ok friend since secondary school'.
What I want to know from this forum:
a What would parents with older teenage sons think of such a situation?
b Would you agree to such a trip being made?
c What may be possible ramifications and problems that may arise for such a trip, esp considering travelling with an opposite sex 'friend' overseas, staying in same room, '...but, different beds...'
d Any advice or tips other parents may give me on how to deal with this scenario?
