When should we stop wearing mittens for babies?

Hi Mummies,

just to ask how old did you let your little ones wear mittens till??

my son is in his 12th week and I realised his wrist are having the marks from wearing mittens. I think the mittens are too small for him. But I dun dare to cut his nails too often n too deep in fear of hurting him so I let him wear his mittens.

is wearing mittens till 3mths old too long and bad for his hand and overall development?? Will too tight mittens affect the growth of his little hands??

my son stopped wear them after a month ... maybe you can try looking for bigger mittens

I didn't really put mittens on my babies. One time I did because I was afraid baby would get cold (winter here) and I didn't realise the elastic was too tight. When I removed the mittens my baby's hand was swollen like it was full of fluid. Really puffy. It scared the crap out of me so never again!

I wouldn't use them if they are too tight. Better for baby to scratch themselves than to cut off circulation. Plus their scratches heal very quickly.
