Hi mommies out there,

Just want to know if any of you planning to fast this coming ramadhan and are breastfeeding. Did you prepare anything? Please share with me :)

I am currently bf my 7th month old boy, this will be the first time i encounter ramadhan when bfing. So I want to be prepared, in case milk supply drop etc.

Thanks mommies!

I fasted last ramadhan while pregnant n still breastfding my doter. This yr i wil still continue to fast while breastfding my 2 mth old kid.

Some of the preparation i'll b taking:
- drink plenty of water for sahur and iftar. I plan to finish 1.5l for sahur and another 1.5l for iftar
- dun skip sahur. Hv a nutritious sahur n iftar. Include fish n vege in ur diet.
- hv plenty of rest wen u can
- i plan to hv oats on some days for my sahur as i realise oats help to boost my milk supply. U can try tht out :)

hi ramblingmummy,
wow..you are really a super mommy! pregnant and breastfeeding! :001_302: i heard that oats are good too. any recommendation on how to serve the oats?
at this moment, my milk supply is already low. I am thinking how I can increase it before fasting (which is in a few days time!)
anyway, thanks for the tips dear :)

Previously i juz cook the oats wif condensed milk (very unhealthy)..hehe... Now the healthier version is putting raisins, strawberries/bananas in the oats coz these are natural sweeteners. N it is better for fasting coz condensed milk gives u high energy for awhile but it wil all come crashing dwn by late morning n u'll b hungry.

Another method i knw to increase bm is to boil dried longan in water. U can put sugar to sweeten it. Drink the water. U can also eat the longan. This i learnt frm my late great-grandmother who was a mak bidan in her days :)

I think eatin lots of fish cooked in soup helps to increase bm too :)

Adding on abt the oats thing. Avoid putting in condensed milk or sugar but use natural sweeteners like raisins n strawberries. U can even add dates
