My kids just use cheap no brand bags. Although they don't last long, can always buy a new one without feeling the pinch. It's great because kids change their taste all the time. If you are buying a school bag to last 5 years, the kid will get bored easily.

Actually, I agree with your husband. If the dog can step on your sofa, why can't the 2 kids do that as well. It's a matter of perception. Some people view pets as dirty even when the owners wash their pets' legs. Take it easy, don't get too uptight about things.
