I've heard gd things abt jolly phonics. Seems quite effective. My sis, who's a teacher, thinks letterland is quite dated. She said zoo phonics is not bad, but can be a bit confusing with all the animal pictures, and some teachers may tend to focus too much on the actions and the songs.
Anyway...
yeah i'm also keen to know if they're really helpful n actual examples of how yr kids may have improved after attending these courses. i keep hearing abt all these right brain classes n have read up a bit abt them, but i don't personally know anyone who sends their kids there, so i haven't heard...
I think dif children develop at a dif pace, but what's most important is that they enjoy reading. some kids may need a bit more structured help n i think the enrichment schools can be pretty helpful. Schools may rush thru syllabus n the lessons, n teachers usually don't have enough time to guide...

wow how do u guys know how to teach phonics etc? i try to read up but not much time so i'm not v sure. i just read to my boy as often as i can, teach him rhymes n songs, etc. he is 3+ and can say a to z and simple words. but can't read well.
i thinking of enrichment class for him to improve...
