I realised that the advertisement banner blocks some drop-down options.
If the banner has an existing advert, the drop-down option (eg Search) works fine. But if the banner is blank, the drop-down falls behind the banner space which causes fields to be blocked from view.
I'm not sure if it's the version of my IE but this only recently happened and even if I restart my PC, the same thing still happens. I'm using IE6.
