My son has the same problem and I am also looking for a good paed with specialisation in ENT (ear, nose & throat). Forget abt GPs as they only prescribe generics whc r useless! The phelgm may be caused by allegies resulting in post-nasal back drip.

u can try TCM,i find them more effective than western medicine when it comes to treating cough and phlegm. i brought my girl 2 times and now, she seldom gets her cough and phlegm, cos the medicine help to "tiao" her body too. :)
also, try to avoid poultry and eggs, seafood(except fish), citrus fruits and cold drinks when they get a cough. abstain for a while until she recovers and also give loads of water.

yes, i agree with u. but chinese medication can take longer to see the effect. u got to be patient. wat I normally do is, if the cough is really bad, then go to a Western doc. Western medication usually takes shorter time to at least curb the cough. until the child is better, then switch to chinese medication to get to the root of the problem and to "tiao li".

oh really? hmmm my daughter usually takes 1.5 weeks to finish one btl of the chinese med and by the 3rd/4th day, i can alr see her cough and phlegm significantly reduced. after she finishes that, i will take her back to get another btl to "tiao" her body. she only took chinese meds 2 times and she seldom hv cough and phelgm anymore. i guess, it also depends on which sinseh u see ba, whether their meds are good and effective or not. :)

I guess each child's body is different n thus react differently to the medicines. Oh yes, I agree the sinseh also makes a difference. It's gd that ur daughter reacts well to the medicines. It's impt that u stick to one gd doc n not skip doc
