Dear parents,
My girl of 13 mths old has sensitive nose, airways which leads to stuffy mucousy nose almost every week. PD prescribed a "tonic" called ketotifen to be taken daily for 1 month. I read up that ketotifen is given to those who suffer from asthma n is a medication taken in addition to asthma meds for those suffering fr asthma. Also read that ketotifen has not been studied in children less than 3 yrs old.

Any parents who had given this tonic to their child n the effects n whether it improves their condition?

my GP prescribed once to my daughter when she was about 2 years old plus...
told me it's to strengthen her lungs cos she had been coughing for quite some time..
personally, i don't see any effect...but then i didn't let her take for a mth too...
subsequently went to see PD..prescribed with Singulair...more effective..
another GP also prescribed Singulair to her in other visits for coughing...but it's much more expensive than Ketoifen
