惊风散

Anyone heard of this before?

My bb is 1 month old now. As u all know newborns def will cry at times out of blue.
Old ppl believed that it might be after a shock tat leads to this.
My mum bought 惊风散 to feed my bb.
Im just concern isnt it too dangerous as my bb is still too early for that, thou my mum just dab on her finger and feed him.
Even the box stated for 6 months and above.
Some of my friends believe this medicine helps also but im srsly still very reluctant to feed bb with this.
Any comments or experiences?

if you are not comfy with it, i suggest that you dun give. else (touch wood) anything happens, you will blame your mum and yourself.

is your baby jaundiced? cos my gal had quite bad jaundice and it din clear even after full mth. we went to a liver specialist who told us to avoid all TCM herbs cos some TCM herbs can interfere with the liver function of the baby and cos baby's liver still immature, may affect it. so, when my mil also bought the jin feng san for my gal, i refused immediately. there are quite a lot of herbs in it and i m not comfy cos scared it may worsen the jaundice.

although i did give my very cranky baby after first month, but if i would have a choice, i will not give again.

reason being they wont consume much either, i dont think it can help anyway by this little amount. and since the box stated 6 mths, i will strictly follow the instruction since i am previously in medical line, there is a reason what a guideline is stated.

i hate it when the eu yang send staff assure that one month old can take but guideline say 6 month.

just a question: did your baby cry lesser after taking? most of them cry because they really have yet to adapt to the new environment. my baby get frighten easily even by our footstep or the slightest sound, see already feel so heartpain .

but still if i have a choice, no such medicine at this age:)

My MIL insisted also.. I let her try ONCE. Because I don't believe in such powder.. And it did not work anyway so I threw the whole bottle away.. I brought my girl to PD and got her some drops for Colic instead.. If you're not comfortable, don't let anybody tell you what to do with your baby. :)

Ya, actually i think sometimes they cry cos of colic. so gripe water is good enough.

My gal also get startled easily esp when my 3 yr old son kept shouting and walking noisily. but after a while, she got used to it. i think the beansprout husk pillow help also. put across her chest helps a bit.

Sometimes when it comes to mil and my mum, really hard to reject them down.
Srsly i dont think it helps lah.
So gripe water is safe? They bought it too, i dont feed it to my baby when they r not ard also.
To my concept, newborn just need milk.
Haiya older generations had so much weird patterns. Thou we are grew up fine...

My pd asked me to gv gripe water for colic but I only started giving after she turns 1 mth. Cos I believe before full mth, shd not gv any extra things.

I learnt this when my son was a baby. When mil said to do something which I m not comfy with, I'll pretend to call doc n tell mil tat doc say cannot do tat. Worked well for both my kids

I do use tt powder for my baby. I feed her that before she sleep every night. I feel that it does help her sleep better. I went to read up on the ingredient. I think they are fine. help digestion n also cure cold.

she will taste the powder n then clean her own tongue as she Mum mum the powder.

my bb is now 3mth 2 weeks. she started eating tt in week 3. my bb startled easily n like easily frightened too. at first I was skeptical, but baby seems to enjoy it. haha... n her tongue never white white in colour too. guess it helps baby to clean her own tongue .

I fed both powder and gripe water to my boy. Both do help a lil.. My boy can sleep well at night. Tho sometimes I don't give the powder to my boy, but it's more like a must to give gripe water before he sleeps. Else he will end up crying cos of tummy ache and he will keep trying to fart...

Ultimately, it's up to u if u want to feed or not. It's ur choice, not theirs. I fed both cos I really see the effective of it.
