any dad/mum gets sole custody of your child?

So as above I would like advises on how to get sole custody of my boy as I know that it's usually joint custody now, but I've seen cases of sole custody. Would really appreciates if you could share! Thanks!

I got total and sole custody of my daughter. Although my lawyer did mention that normally the judge would prefer to give joint custody since they want both parents to be involved with the child's life.

For my case, it was sole custody to me when I filed for separation and the dad is not interested in the child, so for the interim and final judgement, I asked for Sole Custodyand I got it since he did not contest.
