Are bank jobs in Singapore safe?

It all depends upon the bank you get into. Mostly, bank jobs in Singapore are secured and most of the big names in the banking sector are good places to have a career with.

Have you considered things like:
Are you prepared to work long hours?
Are you prepared to sacrifice your weekends?
Are you prepared to do the most boring and non value added work?
Are you prepared to lose a job?

Honestly there is no security to bank jobs these days. The banking sector are shrinking as most of the roles are being offshored to cheaper locations. That would mean that BANK A can hire you now but 3 years later, they can retrench you or ask you to move to the cheaper location (ie" Phillipines, India, Malaysia, China, etc) If you are not prepared to pack your bag and go to the location, then you can kiss your job goodbye. You really do not want to be in a situation where you are 35-40 and end up jobless.

Of course there are also places within a bank which are expanding due to regulatory requirements by local as well as global regulators. However these roles usually demand an experienced person.

Though it may sound glamorous working in a bank, sometimes when you divide out the time you spent at work compared to a friend in logistic firms, you realised the friend in logistic firms are paid better than ppl who works in a bank. But for ppl who love/dream to work in a bank, I suggest you try and see if you really like the type of life working in a bank. (rem: there is no work life balance)

It seems like banks are always the first to be affected during an economy crisis. Rumours had that there may be another global economic crisis next year (every 7 years). I find investing in ourselves is a more secured financial safety net. There are so many genuine opportunities in the market for home-based businesses. You can check them out too. :)
