10 Benefits To Using Cloth Diapers

1) Your family will save almost $2500+ per child vs using disposables. The average family spends $2,694.54 for 7,349 disposable, single-use diapers. *1

2) Your family will NOT produce 1 ton of waste that would go into landfills. It is estimated that 10,000 tons of disposable diapers are added to landfills EVERY day. *2

3) Your baby will have less diaper rash.

4) Your baby won't be exposed to sodium polyacralate (the shiny crystals in the diaper that can stick to babies skin causing skin reactions) *3

5) Your family doesn't have to put 1-2 bags of disposable diaper trash out on the curb for trash day.

6) Using cloth diapers vs using disposable diapers will reduce your babies chances of getting asthma. The Archives of Environmental Health tested 6 leading cloth diapers and 6 leading disposable diapers and discovered that the emissions from one disposable diaper were high enough to produce asthma-like symptoms in mice.*4

7) Your family is reducing their carbon footprint by using cloth diapers. The manufacturing of disposables takes over 1 million metric tons of wood pulp and 75,000+ of metric tons of plastic each year. *5

8) Using cloth diapers will help facilitate quicker potty training. During potty training time children who have been in cloth will recognize sooner when they are wet vs a baby in disposable diapers.

9) Cloth Diapers are just as easy to use as disposables. With the modern age of cloth diapers and brand such as bumGenius and Fuzzi Bunz there are now options that are much, much easier than 30 years ago!

10) No more trips to the store late at night when you are out of disposables. Just pop a load into the machine and you have instant diapers. Just think of the gas savings! NO more trips to the store!

Yes, I am cloth diapering my baby :)
But the downfall is to need to wash it every times you change the diaper...
I leave it to my helper though, not sure she will find it irritating... @.@

My son is 1.5 years old now... hehe...
I want to be more eco-friendly, always recommend my friend to cloth diapering their baby, however, most of the complain there are a lot washing to do... sigh...

Bump for you :) I'm an advocate of cloth diapering, too. When I do have my own little one (hopefully soon...) I'll go for cloth diapers.

Hi, I did not cloth daiper my daughter, just because nobody else seemed to be doing it. Or perhaps I didn't know where to buy the diapers (I'm sort-of used to calling them nappies). Anyway I think this is a great idea, and all mummies should consider it seriously.
Imagine how many dicarded Pampers go into landfills every day (shudder)

Hi,

Can you please advise how much you are selling the inserts for?
1 pocket diaper and 1 insert is definitely insufficient :(
The pocket diaper can be reused but the insert has to be changed once every 2 to 3 hours?

Planning to cloth diaper my baby, at least while I'm still on my maternity leave.
Not sure how to "dump" the additional work load to the nanny when I get back to work :(

Thanks!!

Just want to share that my girl has been using cloth diaper (those traditional white ones) from birth, when she's at home in the day and only using disposable ones at night time and when we go out. Now she's 19.5 months, she's been off disposable diapers for the past 3 months as she's considered toilet trained. All thanks to my mum and her idea of cloth diapers (cos she's looking after her full time for me) and bringing her to pee every 40mins or so.

Though we need to wash it often and maybe clean up some accidents, i must say the $ save on disposable is a lot... :001_302:
