Hi there..

Jus wondering if any mummies out there ever experience the same prob..
im a ftm, 39.3 weeks along but cervix is stil tightly closed. Hw? Im super worried if by due date stil not open. I thought ppl usually say ftm may give birth 2wks earlier.. My worries has been because ive ever had a fren's wife who also waited til due n sad to say had a stilbirth. My mom says im worrying too much.. I'm now thinking whether to csec or jus patiently wait n see.. mY birthplan is to have a natural birth..

usually 1st preg will not give birth earlier, usually only, some also will give birth earlier (tt's what i heard).

cervix not dilated is not uncommon. many mummies here also experience cervix not dilated even their EDD has reached. worse come worse, induce the baby out. unless aft induce ur cervix still unable to dilate den ur gynae will advise u to go for c-sect.

dont wry too much, this is pretty common, esp for 1st time preg. =)

Hi, I gt the same worry as u!! I was at 38+6 days n no dilation but bb engaged le. I was hoping for natural birth. Then on Sunday whole day I dun really feel my bb so I go hospital do ctg scan as per my gynae instruction. Then go le but bb heartbeat still healthy on ctg so great relieve. Then gynae ask me mon go do follow up checks. So I went, same heart beat ok, n hearing test his kick very very soft...I know baby very active wan but even hearing test Also his kick so soft, so I request my gynae to check cord position then really to my suspect - cord round his neck once but loosely hang. I really thank god Tat my bb is so clever to minimize his movement cos if he still active, I scare *choi* it will happen. My 'still birth' nitemare really scares me so despite I scare c-sect, for his safety, I arrange c-sect the very next day!
Mummy instints very accurate wan. Do pls ask yr gynae scan for cord position cos if I dun suggest, dun think my gynae will check Tat.
Btw ultimately my cervix still nt open for birth too...

There's always the option of induction. What has your obstetrician advised you to do? It's very important to go for each obstetrician's visit now (weekly? or days apart?), because at each visit, they will monitor the baby's heartbeat (its intensity). For my case, my doctor told me to diligently record the no. of fetal movements I felt each day. Less than 10, go see her.

My baby doesn't really kick much that why it makes me even more worried.. So now everyday i try to pay MORE attention to her movements. And my baby only engaged at 39th week. Haiiz.. Yes, c-sect after pain is horrible but when I see my son well, it's really worth it. now I'm still in hospital recuperating. Anyhow really muz do scan fir cord position hor, besides bb too big no space move, I tink the other reason for lesser movement could be that.

I really think Tat if u tell yr gynae yr concern, he/she shld be able to grant u c-sect request. I totally know hw u feel cos I dun tink any mom wants anything to happen to bb after 9 or 10 mths. Ya I support u go earlier n check dilation, if nt, dun induce cos induce is a long process, Juz c-sect out will do! Jia you! Juz my 2 cents worth.
