How to teach baby how to chew? Please help

Hi Mummies

My son is 9months and 3 weeks now but i notice that he only swallow when i feeding him porridge or cereal ,without chew. i did gave him teething biscuit or yogurt melt and he know how to eat.

i heard from somewhere. if he late to know how to chew and it will affect their speech in future.

Somemore now he dun know how to call mama , baba or tata.. i am start worry lioa..

Please share with me yr experience.

I don't think you can teach babies how to chew directly. By 8 months they can start eating fingerfoods on their own, like wholemeal toast cut up into fingers, steamed veggies, soft fruits etc. These will encourage baby to explore food and chew :)

Your boy is only 9 month old. It's too early to worry about speech. haha

I gave my girl different sensory toys when she showed interest in mouthing. Naturally, she'll lick, "bite" and explore. When it comes to eating, she'll do the same. I think I gave her a Pigeon stage 1 toothbrush (with guard) around 9 month too.

She could feed herself finger foods quite well around 9 month or a bit earlier. Weaning started at 5.5 mth, I think.
