I am almost 3 months pregnant and have been taking folic acid 800 mcg and Iron 525 mcg along with dissolvable vitamin C from last four months since i had blood test that shows I have 11% Haemoglobin and required is 12%.

When i found I am pregnant I went to gyane she asked me to continue these vitamins and now
one of my friends who has just tested positive told me that her GYN told her no to take iron. Taking iron during first trimester can cause some harm to baby like bacterial infections and defects etc :(

So, I am really confused and worried. Did any of you know who is right and can share personal experience about using and not using iron.

Thank you

Never heard of it during my 1st tri. Only know that if u take a lot of iron, you will have to drink a lot of water to avoid constipations.

Folic acid is good for pregnant women but do not overdo it. My gynae also advised me to take folic acid but never mentioned about not taking on first tri. Perhaps I'll ask her about it.
