Do you let your baby sleep on a bigger mattress (instead of cots and playpens) just so that he can learn to flip? I have a 4 month old who may find the playpen too small for him to flip or once he learns to flip, he wont be able to continue sleeping in the playpen. So im considering to buy a maattress to put on the floor. It is such a waste of the playpen. Do other mummies have the same concern?

Hi, sorry I am not very familiar with the playpen, is it like a cot or portacot?

If it's like cot/portacot then it is safe for them to continue sleeping in it until they move to a toddler or normal bed, usually around 2 years old (or until toddler doesn't want to sleep in cot anymore). Just need to make sure that you keep their bedding free from pillows, toys and any other objects that pose a risk for SIDS :)
