The inaugural National Reading Day will be taking place on 30 July 2016 with a series of programmes and activities island-wide. Organised by the National Library Board (NLB), the National Reading Day is part of the National Reading Movement, and calls for all to set aside some time to Read More, Read Widely and Read Together.

The National Reading Day will be launched by Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister for Communications and Information on 30 July 2016, 10am. A key highlight of the celebrations is Read for Books, an initiative which will see a book donated to NLB’s kidsREAD club beneficiaries from less privileged families for every 10 people who read for 15 minutes. Members of the public will also be able to visit the OneTeamSG cheer truck where TeamSG athletes will be sharing their book recommendations, as well as the Mini-MOLLY mobile library at the event.

Details of the event are as follows:

Date: Saturday, 30 July 2016
Time: 10.00 am to 11.00 am
Venue: Plaza, National Library Building, 100 Victoria Street, Singapore 188064
