Milk protein allergy

Hi all,

My son had been diagnose with cow milk protein allergy and had advise to take other brand of special formula milk. Does anyone experience this? Which brand of milk did u give ur child? My son is now 9 months and I'm planning to stop breast feeding when he turns one, but I think it's necessary to introduce him other milk slowly to avoid rejection. Correct me if I'm wrong here.

Hope someone can share their experience here with me.

This allergy is quite common..don't worry...try using friso soy OR isomil (soy).... pls be careful not to eat diary products yourself if you are still breastfeeding.

I'm gg to let him try isomil sample first, do u know if friso soy have samples?

Do u urself feed ur child full feed Isomil/firs soy or bit by bit?

Littletots, u can get those sample FM from PD clinic. u can try to replace 1 meal by 1 meal. replace 1 meal for a few days 1st and observe if he is okay with the milk and slowly 2 meals for another 3-4 days and so on.. =)

Hi apollo, thanks for ur advise.

I was thinking to mixed some in the cereals first, if he is ok den I start 30ml fm den the rest 110ml ebm. He suffered quite badly and was sent to a&e when he was abt 5mths after drinking 90ml fm Enfalac. So, I m quite worried and duno how to start. PD ask me to feed him with special formula (neocate) 400g is $90. So I'm hope my son can take other brands instead...

did u ask pd if Isomil and Friso soy is okay? cos since his allergic is so bad, better check with pd b4 giving. he is allergic to protein right? egg white protein is very high, in future gonna take note of this if u intend to intro new food. =)

PD said he can't confirm if he can take soy cuz at tat time he is too young. So he ask me not to take any risk, so avoid soy as well.. Now tat I'm still breast feeding him, I oso avoid eggs.. Even dairy products I try to avoid.. But it's too difficult.. I'm very careful with his semi solid food.. I will look for the ingredient to make sure it's safe for him to eat..

izzit possible to do a test and see what's the foods that he is allergic with?? if he really cannot take soy den i think the only solution is that expensive milk reco by ur pd..

I search and there is those skin prick test. It must be done several times.. Yup, if he cant take soy, I wld need to give him the exp milk formula.. Hope tat he can take Isomil which I m gg to let him try when he is 10 mths old..

Btw, Pd says that I should avoid feeding my son with fish, is it due to the protein that it has in the fish? I had been giving him cereals, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrot. What other food can I intro him?
