Music Lessons For Kids - Start Young

Music lessons for kids should start early. It’s easier to learn when we’re young, and if we stick with it for a few years, music theory is something that few of us forget. The popular misconception of a musician as a slacker, maybe not so bright, but full of party and mirth, is far from the true picture. True; many celebrity musicians hide behind such a persona, but in their private lives, most are hard working and serious, something required sustaining a musical career of a high caliber.

As far as intelligence goes, music requires many different sorts of intelligence to be operating simultaneously. Only writing requires as many diverse types of mental skill. But with music, there are also somatic skills, such as keeping time and manual dexterity required to play an instrument. Music lessons expose them to music in a fun and threat-free environment. If they wait to start in college, it’s going to be a lot less fun, and when we learn later in life, even late adolescence, we tend to forget more.
