Hi all:

Recently, my baby boy of 18 months had some flu 3 weeks ago and since after recovered 1 week later, he start rejecting all types of formula milk.

We not sure of what happens, althought in the past his intake of milk is not that good, of avergae 150ml per feed for 3 feeds per day, but now he is not drinking any!!!

The approach of the milk and the smell immediately make him use his hand to either make a "no no" or he closed his mouth very tight.

We had tried a few brands of the forumal milk, Mami gold, gain and even Pediasure, but still can not get him to drink.

We visited the baby doc or specialist last week and she recommended feeding more tou fu or cheese products or soy bean with less sugar.

We currently feeding more tou fu, soy bean and bread with cheese. But our boy don't seen to take much.

our boy does take the 2 feed of lunch and dinner well.

But we afraid of our boy upgrowth without the other benefits of the formula milk.

Can anyone advise what can we do? For a 18 months not wanting to drink milk? Any other foods or milk to recommend

Without the intake of fromual milk, will it still affect the boy growth, especially IQ and learning?

Thanks for all the kind souls and people out there for reading the post.

Any feedback or repsonse is appreaciated.

Thanks

My girl is currently 18 months and has always been on breastmilk + 150ml formula milk (at night) per day. However, she started rejecting formula milk 1.5 months ago. Dunno why.. I did not change the brand nor the amount. Initially, I thought she no longer wants to drink from bottle so I change it to sprout & straw. But it seems like its the smell and taste of formula that puts her off. She gave me that puking action and shakes her head whenever formula milk is presented to her. I gave a cooling period of 2 weeks before reintroducing it back to her. But that does not help.

Hence, I stop giving her formula since then. Beside mummy's milk, I gave her Meiji Choco Milk (she dislikes fresh milk), wholemeal bread with cheese (I sprinkle some breakfast cereal [e.g. koko crunch, honey stars, etc.] on top as she does not fancy cheese alone), tofu, biscuits that are high in calcium. Ikan Bilis with bones are good source of calcium so I grind them after giving it a toss in the wok and add to her porridge. Whenever I eat ice cream / Choco, she will have a little of them as well. I am still trying to get her to drink some soya milk as she does not like it that much. These are some of the ways I substitute her calcium from formula. Oh ya, a little sunshine is good for the bones too :)

My child is a little small size just like her parents. But she is otherwise a healthy & happy girl who is capable of using an iPad like an adult, knows how to sort shapes correctly, loves story books & kick a ball, among many other things :D
