Positive results very scared..

Hi all, I just came back from Oscar scan n blood test . Scan shows baby is good n SHOULD be fine. Results will only be out in few days time. However, just now clinic called n informed me that my blood is tested positive for duno wat kinda virus. The nurse didn't wanna reveal further as more tests will be done soon. I was too shocked to listen properly as to what the medical term is called . But she told me its passed thru dogs or cats' faeces or wrong handling of raw meat.
I googled for it n found it's fatal to unborn baby n cause brain abnormalities n blindness in them. If tests show it's caught recently then it's bad thing I think . Hai... Never heard of anyone getting this before. I'm so worried !

Anyone heard of this?

can also passed through raw food like eating sashimi.

avoid sashimi. and eggs must be fully cooked too!

hi pinky, hasnt hear from u in a while.

i just read up, didy is right, is called toxoplasmosis, disorder caused by parasite through cat faeces. it can also passed thru uncooked / undone food such as sashimi, raw eggs, beef, pork, lamb... and cross contamination in kitchen.
avoid those food mention, i hv not eaten beef since i got pregnant, coz if well done not nice and we cannot have it medium done or medium rare.

dont worry so much first, go for other tests to find out asap.

Thanks, ladies, for your replies ! Clinic juz called again to say it's very low risk in my case. Said it's low percentage so no action needs to be taken now. Yeah!!

Hotmilktea: hey gal ! Yup Its been awhile! V tiring to handle baby with another growing baby inside me.. No energy to do some many thgs even surf net . Juz feel like lying down evyday hahaa ya you r right , I think it's cross-contamination.maybe sometimes cooking halfway then baby scream so can only roughly wash hands w soap b4 rushing to baby. I have a dog But doesn't stay here all d time. U went for oscar aldy?

my oscar scan is next wed! i am approaching week 12 this thursday, so exciting! cant wait for 1st tri to be over....

Me worse loh... Last yr tahan for 9 over mths coz preg w #1 then finally after he's out I can eat my runny eggs! Then 4 mths later preg again now gotta wait so many more months! Sianzz...

Dun worry time will pass very fast babe! My first pregnancy first tri seemed very slow too hahaa but once u hit second tri time flies! Now I'm so bz taking care of #1 I dun even have time to remind myself I've a baby in me now. Hubby always say ' y u never talk to baby in tummy one ah? ' coz I used to talk n sing alot to my boy last time when he's in my tummy . Hehee..
