Preventive measures and abortive measures

I am currently using an iud as means of preventing pregrancy. And I've heard that it is considered as an abortive measure. Can anyone provide info on this? And wad r u gers using?

whoever said that that an iud is an abortive measure?:err: that is quite ridiculous. an iud is inserted into the uterus preventing sperm from entering. that is one of the contraceptive method to prevent pregnancy. u can check with your gynae to verify. im using the pills however cos im not comfortable having a foreign object in my body. but i still might consider iud one day...

Some of the websites actually says that it sorts of prevents the fertilised egg from growing. So when it cant grow, it sort of miscarriages. Is it?
