Hi all,

I'm new here, but like all excited new mummy, i was following through a few of the thread and would like to share a humble experience.

This is my First Pregnancy, 3 week ago (my 4th week of pregnancy), i experience cramps, the cramps got worst later part in the afternoon and i was bleeding... I went to KKH 24hrs clinic to do a scan, as my baby is still very small at that time they cant see find any water-sae in me hence they did a HCG test for me, the first reading was 8145. They say that most likely at this level should be able to find my water-sae, they repeated another scan for me.... still they cant find any sae... so they ask me to come back 2 days later to repeat my HCG test. I went to do my test on a wednesday.

Friday, i had a appointment with NUH in the morning and afternoon i was suppose to go back to KKH to repeat my HCG blood test, so i went ahead with my NUH appointment in the morning, I went to clinic G, appointment is at 8.30am. The first thing when i reach the clinic, they ask me to do a urine test, took my height and weight. I waited for lesser then 10mins, i went in to see the doctor. She repeated the scan for me, and she found my water-sac !!! and told me i am about 4 to 5 weeks pregnant. I was over joy.

I went back to KKH 24hrs clinic, as i'm still rather confuse and didnt know what are the test they wanted to do for me... again when i reach they did a blood test for me and told me to wait for 1hrs for the result. the result came back and they told me there is only a rise of 51%, they say for most of the case the raise will be double the amount or at least a 60%, so she say most likely i miscarriage ?!!! I was so stun for a moment and i bring out the scan which i have done earlier on, when she saw the scan, she say ohhh... ok.. the baby is at the right position. So don't worry. they gave me a appointment 7/7/2012 (friday) to repeat a scan and to see a doctor at clinic C.

so last friday i went to KKH for my scan, i waited for 1hrs plus for the scan to be done (i was very happy as i was able to see my baby heartbeat for the first time and was told that my baby is 7 weeks already), then i was told to go back to the clinic , i waitied 2hrs 30mins to see the doctor for lesser then 2 mins !!! I was so upset !!! my first Sub appointment at NUH and sub First appointment at KKH experience is so different. The waiting don't just end here, after finish seeing the doctor at around 5.30pm, i have to wait for another 45mins for the payment and appointment (the appointment they gave me is in this format.. 4weeks,8weeks,12weeks*12 week then there will be another scan*) ...

I have given up on KKH, and had just Call NUH and will be following up with Dr Su Lin Lin. At first i was very undeceived which hospital to chose, but now the choice is very clear. Just my experience and hope this may help new mummy to be :)

Hi Hikari,
personally i chose government hospital cause i feel that they have all the facilities in house, so touch wood in case of emergency i suppose at least all the various dept will have a on-call doctors which can assist. Of cos i cant comment in SGH cause i never been there before. I also feel that when a baby is still young, it will be easier if i can follow up with the same hospital where i deliver him/her if there is a need to do so. But of cause I'm super kiasu, there is alot of very good private hospital around also :)

Hello... Am new here.

just feeling lucky that I'm one of the few that emerge and manage to have my confinement finsih with a "smile". Gotten this contact from my colleague and thank heavens! its's stress-free and rewarding! :Dancing_wub: Hope mummies out here have another source to get contact. you may email me at my email: verlbbbb@ymail.com

Hoping to post a video of here here... (check with the moderator first)! :001_302: Am not trying to 'promote business' but rather encourages mummy (esp first time mum) with little or no experience get the required help and knowledge from experience and reliable nanny (recommending my nanny to you). Her name is Amy (Yoke Peng), 46yrs of age. cantonese and well-versed with confinement knowledge and cooked very delicious confinement meals during my confinement. Her simmered pig's stomach is very delicious and she also cooks sea cucumber with du zhong tonic are the two dishes I missed most! During the night... I had very ample rest as we knows Amy is doing a good job b'cos we seldom hear our infant cries.... she targets to attend to our infant before she cries so that I (a sensitive and light sleeper) could rest well. She attends to my c-section wound with care and was very experience in clearing my block ducts.... thanks to her suggestion my hubby and I could get ample rest during the night b'cos I latch during the day and pump out my breast milk at night. My sister-in-law had engaged her this month and I simply went over for her cooking!

On personal quote:
My personal confinement experience was just to gather confinement information from my surrounding relatives, friends and even colleague's wife and decide if engaging a CL is really worth...Amy shared her numerous confinement experience with me and I do agree with her that each person "deserves" to have our 'OWN' confinement experience and not to follow other people's experience.

Being a first time mum.. I faithfully and sincerely in giving the "BEST" to my infant but rather find 100% latching on too tedious and time consuming. I'm glad Amy did follow my way initially supporting stringe feed my infant when my milk did not arrive but she did advise me that eventually with little milk, my infant's jaundice will shot up and it really DID! With the two days in the hospital was indeed stresssful but I was more annoyed when eventually the hospital feed my infant with FM! After discharge... I begin to take charge of my confinement.... feeding with all my breast milk and supplement FM.

Amy helped with my c-section wounds and along with my preference in food, she suggested and planned my confinement meals. I never have to worry about my infant care or least my household chores.....I can safely leave it to Amy to do it.

I do not have any qualms in recommending my CL to anyone deserving her. You may email me.

Private is good for 1st time mums who may have any concerns of risks. They scan every month. My Gynae was at Mt E but delivered in Mt A.

U can see in a public hospital as a private patient. I delivered in kk under private premium. Different between private.and.premium if i am not wrong is that whn they do procedures.for u like setting an iv plug or epidural, normal house officer(junior.doctor) cannot do for u. Only i think medical officer or registra and.above.can touch u. So its abit nore supreme than private.

And my stay in the ward was superv. Burses were bery nice and room was spacious. Btw, my.minth checkup was done in the private suite. If u are a private patient u may be.still seen in the specialist clinic. Juz request that u wanna see in the orivate suite then they can transfer u over. But of course it will cost slightly more.
