Sterilize an Avent Magic Cup

Hello Everyone,

Avent Magic infant cups are cup spouts that fit on all sizes of Avent bottles. When you transition your baby from the bottle to a cup, the familiarity of the bottle that your baby has been using all along may help ease the process. Before you use the Avent Magic cup, sterilize the spout like you would a bottle to keep your child safe.

Thanks a lot!

Just wondering, if by 6 months baby is already putting all sorts of objects into their mouth, why is there a need to sterilise? Won't a bit of germs boost their immune system? :)

Hello,

Avent Magic Cup and bottles need to be sterilized after you clean them until your baby is at least 12 months old. The steam in the microwave bottle sterilizer kills germs and bacteria quickly. When you sterilize the bottles, you also need to sterilize all the equipment that you use such as the caps and containers.

Best Wishes

Oh ok.. I've never sterilised my babies' bottles or sippy cups... bottles didn't need to be sterilised as they were ebm. But definitely need to sterilise if formula feeding.

Hello Members,

Here are some tips for sterling an Avent magic cup.

1. Fill a medium-sized pot halfway with water. Place it over high heat until the water comes to a boil.
2. Carefully insert the components of the Magic Cup into the pot, stirring if necessary to separate them. Wait 5 minutes.
3. Empty the contents of the pan into a clean strainer to drain the water. Let the components cool and dry completely before reassembly.

Best Regards,
