VBAC/C-sect specialist in KKH?

Hiya mummies, am planning ahead. I had an emergency c-section in Sep 09 for my first baby cos she did not descend after pushing for about 45 mins.

Would love to have vaginal delivery for my second child (not preggie yet but just planning). However, I'd like to first find out if there are any factors that would prevent me from delivering 'normally'. My gynae who delivered my baby said my pelvis is too small but i'd like a second opinion. hehe.

Anyway, any recommendation for good gynae who specializes in VBAC (vaginal birth after c-section) and C-section? preferably at KKH cos I'm an older mummy (this year I'll be 38 years old) so would prefer to have good neonatal facilities for my future baby :)

You can actually go to any private gynae and ask them to scan to check your pelvic bones. My cousin also had C Section due to small pelvic bones (she went to 4 gynaes to verify) and normal delivery could mean fracture or damage to baby's brain.

VBAC has many factors like how well your wound healed, the length of time from the c section delivery, etc.

Also don't forget that the amt of scarring tissues and how the scarring is positioned will also play a part in determining if you can have a VBAC successfully.

Normally if the 1st c-sec was done due to issues like breech position, then the chances of VBAC for 2nd birth is higher. But better seek gynae's professional opinion.

your second opinion should come from a gynae. =)

i have a friend who did vbac last year, and another friend going for vbac later this month. both gynaes are not at KKH though. Gynaes are FM Lai at Camden Medical Centre for the former and Paul Tseng at TLC for the latter.

Other mummies can correct me if i am wrong. but i think KKH gynaes will usually not recommend or perform vbac as a big restructured govt hospital has certain protocols which would prefer to play it safe rather than take associated risks with vbac. another friend's wife had her KKH gynae telling her to stick with c-sec for her third child as her previous two babies had large heads.

I have E c-section for my 1st born due to water bag burst at 32 weeks, i delivered at Gleneagles then. For my twin boys, due to their conditions(30 weeks, high risk, I not young too, water bag burst too), my pte gynae asked me to transfer to KKH. I went into C class and the gynae on standby strongly encourage me to go natural! Imagine my shock as I was prepared for c-section as i was carrying twins. So in the end, i went for VBAC as encouraged by her(the stand by gynae that night was Dr Lee Mei Lin, Registrar) and she delivered them naturally and without epidural some more. So i guess it depends on the gynae's style and the conditions of the baby/babies. By the way, both my twins heads were down and waterbag burst for no apparent reasons. In any case, read up on all ways of delivering and be mentally prepared.

Hi Kathan,
Please help me in taking a decision...I was with Dr.Sadhana from KKH(infertiltiy specialist as i have PCOS)..and got pg after 3 yrs with clomid and went to india to deliver in 5th month after she said ok..as my reports were all good & normal...I am 30yrs but heavy....but in India, my water bag burst at 30 week (in july 09)and Dr.K Rathi delivered my baby as there was risk of infection..reason for Waterbag bursting is unknown as in india they dont do any kind of testing....and my baby was in NICU...and survied only for 18 days and went to heaven due to aspiration...

Now i am 8months from Ceaser and Dr. sadhana in nov itself said if i am mentally ready i can start ttc as i have PCOS and history of late conceiving i may take time again...so DH & me decided to wait for few months and then start ...so from April i am Planning to start again...as i see from ur story that u had waterbag burst again in 2nd delivery...so what precautions ur gynae took as she had know ur history also what things you did to avoid it at next pregnancy....Also can you suggest me any good doctor who can handle cases like mine and prevent it from happening....I was/am still finding hard to move on...but i want my home to be filled with childrens...so need to find a good Doctor to make a success of filling my empty arms again with baby....I will not be able to handle if history is repeated!!

your help will help me in taking a important decision in my life

thanks in advance
