My girl attended a playgroup (12-24mth) at my centre last year. We took a thematic approach & adapted Montessori materials.
1. action songs
2. craft work & fine motor tasks - mainly glue, tear, paste & painting
3. pretend play (imitating & object manipulation)
4. story & puzzles
She started with action songs abt walking, jumping, dancing, etc.
theme : myself, vehicles, zoo animals, sea animals,
I think most tot programmes involve song, craft, play which helps to develop attending, perceptual, motor and language skills.
I prefer centres which allow quite a fair bit of roaming/exploratory play as toddlers learn and discover using 5 senses.
