ya as visitor on social pass
cl got to go custom chop in 2wks for extension

But must make sure she doesn't over stay. All malaysian confinement nannies can only sty 2 months out of 3 in singapore. So if she has 2 previous jobs in Singapore, the next month she must be in Malaysia, then the following month then she can come out again.

I contact the cl directly but she told me she may need work permit. She doesn't know when she needs one. She said depends on custom

Do u mean cl needs work permit if she stays in Singapore continuously for 3 mths eg if she stays Jan, Feb, my confinement in Mar, than I need to apply work permit for her? Wat if she went back for a day in Feb or Mar b4 doing confinement for me?

Dear Ladies,

By law if we were to employ a confinement nanny from Malaysia with a social pass, employer need to apply the work permit for them to work for you as a confinement nanny.

Below on MOM website on offences and penalties:-

Employers caught illegally hiring foreigners without valid work permit for 1st time offenders the fine is 24 to 48 months levy for each worker illegally hired or jail upto 1 year or both. 2nd and subsequent offenders faced the same fines but there is a minimum jail sentence of 1 month upto a maximum of 1 year or both fine and imprisonment

The illegal worker is fine upto S$5000 or upto 1 year jail or both

Overstayers jailed upto 6 months or fine upto S$4000 or both fine and imprisonment

Employers hiring immigration offenders i.e. those who entered Singapore illegally face a minimum 6 months to a maximum of 2 years jail or fine upto S$6000 or both plus mandatory caning if more than 5 illegal immigrants were employed

The Confinement Nanny levy rate is $265. Employers who are eligible for levy concession will pay $170.

Law by MOM only Malaysians above 18 years old or Singaporean is allow to be employed as confinement nannies. If agency supply you confinement nanny from China or Indonesia, they are doing it illegally and the above penalties applied.

It is better to engage an agent to help you find a confinement nanny and they will able to help you to find a suitable nanny to serve you. They will also able to help you to apply for the levy as well as provide replacement of nanny if the nanny supposed to serve you is sick or not available at the time you delivered.

Legalised agents that specialised in providing confinement nannies are not many.Ask for their business licence number before you engaged their services.

Those maid agencies that provide domestic workers don't have many good confinement nannies to supply as their core business is providing domestic workers or maids.

I hope the above information help.

Regards,

Yan

We didn't go thru agency but go direct to the CL... and experience not very good... not sure if it will be better via going thru agency to find CL, and their services will be better regulated.

From what i assumed... if good one... they will already have a base of current customers for them to tap on, via word-of-mouth, for business, and no pt going thru agency for someone else to take their cut. They can easily tell the custom, upon entering singapore, they are your relatives or so-and-so.. which is pretty common nowadays. But I understand from one CL we spoke to, if they entered into Singapore for more than 2 times in a roll, they will be requested to have work permit... thus, even if you go direct to CL, you might need to apply for WP for them.

Below is the link from MOM on WP for CL. An admin fee of $10. If u are going via proper channel, think better to call MOM hotline directly to confirm levy fee. I cut-and-paste below for your info.

Ministry of Manpower | Confinement Nannies
