Hi, does anyone know of any beauty care products that are safe for pregnancy?

Initially I thot I will nt risk using and beauty products since i m pregnant. But my face, skin and hair is in a bad stage due to hormones changes. I am losing much self confidence. My buttocks are also getting HUGH! I am really feeling very lousy.:embarrassed:

Anyone can help?

Anyone knows if Olay total effects, Kose black mask/scrub and Provitamin serum (for hair repair) can use?

i dont think we pregnant women have a choice,, we should shy away from beauty products even after giving birth and if we plan to breastfeed. Most of them contain harmful ingredients that are absorb by our skin and transferable to our baby...the only moisturizer i used on my face is Cetaphil, though i seldom use it as well..you can also put fresh coconut milk on your hair to bring back the shine,of course rinse it after awhile....just eat healthy, lots of fruits and veggies... accept changes as part of pregnancy..

Products which are definitely a 'no-no' are ones which contain pure Vitamin A like the prescriptive topical cream Retin-A which has been proved to be harmful to foetus and can cause abnormalities.

Other products should be avoided if you have an allergic reaction or won't be able to handle the smell (strong perfumes etc) or if you are suffering from sensitive skin due to your hormones. There hasn't been substantial proof yet that beauty products are harmful during pregnancy but I personally have avoided getting my nails and hair done during my first trimester as I understand this is an important time for my baby's growth so thought best to avoid chemicals just to be safe. Also, I was quite nauseous so wouldn't have been able to handle the smell anyway !

I went and saw a dermatologist as I was getting bad breakouts so he gave me some 'safe' creams to use and my skin is improving! Definitely recommend seeing an expert (i.e. Skin doctor specialist) rather than relying on your standard retail beauty products.

The key ingredient to avoid is retin A (vitamin A), BHA, hynoquino (dunno is it the right spelling, usually contain in whitening product so I dun any any whitening product at all), salicylic acid (contain in some of acne treatment product). The rest like normal gentle cleanser, toner and moisturizer should be fine.
There are a lot info on internet, just google it u can find more info about it.

The other chemicals like preservative such as pareben is hard to avoid nowadays, even we dun use skin care but we still eat them. Many can food, junk food, can drink, packat drink, milk all contain preservative and some other chemical which we do not know.

I used organic products during pregnancy. Bought them from Brown Rice Paradise at Tanglin Mall.

Now, I buy my organic products from www.iherb.com. Also get organic toothpaste, shampoo & soap for my boy :)

For me, I just use my normal skincare products which I hv been using pre-pregnancy. I also colour my hair after my gynae gave me the greenlight.

Why not check with your gynae if he/she has any concerns with you using your usual skincare products?
