first time mom. my edd's on the 22nd.
check up on monday.
i feel like asking for induced delivery on the edd itself if i still have no signs of labour. braxton hicks getting more frequent. and my back is killing me. finding it hard to sleep these few days. i feel like asking my hubby to sleep on the floor so i can have the bed all to myself haha...
from what some mummies have shared here, they seem to think that induced birth is even more painful...that they would rather hv c-sect than hv induced natural delivery?

anyways, yes, as the date draws nearer, really do feel more and more uncomfortable. so take things easy, relax, bully the husband a little bit more, think happy thoughts, talk to your baby...it will all be worth it in the end :)

spent today putting together the cot and stroller. i don't remember the stroller looking so ugly haha....

Hi Mummies,

May I know if anyone is doing breast feeding?
Me doing partial breastfeeding but feel like giving up. Firstly, my boy doesnt really like to latch on directly. Even if latches on, tends to fall asleep after 5 mins or started crying out loudly. Secondly, my supply is really low. Everytime i pump is only like 20ml from both sides. Thirdly, I'm using the manual pump and it seems very tedious. Wonder next time my nanny go off already I still got the time to slowly pump anot?

Hi notti,

I'm trying to do total breastfeeding as a lot of friends are encouraging me to do so. I know it is very tedious & tiring especially I've to express every 3-4 hrs. Me also using manual pump.

Last Wed, I had a very bad engorgement on my left breast & it was hard like a stone. I was so panic & scared. After continuation of massaging & expressing breast milk, I was much better. From then on, I told myself I can't afford to be lazy, must express on time.

Thank you ppl.. I am so busy with my lil naughty.. I am doing partial breast feeding.. Due to my milk is not enough for my baby.. He get hungry really fast.. So I use formula.. But now my bm supply increasing.. So slowly cutting down on formula.. Today is my day 7, expressing about 40-60 each side each time.. Been using avent duo electric pump.. It is really expensive but very good investment.. From a very moody mummy due to no milk till day 3.. To a happy mummy now..

Beside pumping I will suggest to latch the baby as much as you can.. Supply will increase.. Oh yah.. Had found myself a massage lady called mdm Ida.. After her massage on day 4 my bm seem to double up.. She is really nice and gave me a lot advice.. My armpit swell when my bm supply increase.. After her massage, no swelling and no pain.. Before that I tot what was that lump in my armpit, went checkup at polyclinic, they even refer my to sigh a&e.. N den sgh refer me to specialist.. Wasting money n time.. Shld had trust mdm Ida when she told me she could help me..

Oh yah.. Remember to massage your nipple and breast before latching or pumping!!

Dun give up!! My boy have the same problem too.. U must be very persistent.. For my boy he alway have problem to latch on, will keep finding n finding for my nipple.. Even if it is already in his mouth, he will keep shaking his head and then cry.. What I did was, be patience.. Walking him around, n pat his butt.. Soon he will calm down n suckle.. My boy also alway fall asleep.. Try to tickle his chin or pat his butt.. Or try to change his position abit.. I dun have milk until e fourth day, on e third day he is so hungry that he kept crying n I became so depress.. Who knows e next day e milk come already.. Rmb to calm him down before offering ur breast.. Usually I will only pump when he is asleep and my breast swell, else I will try to latch him..

Keep telling urself u can do it.. I believe u can too.. Jia you!! The milk supply will increasing slowly one.. Massage ur breast before latching or pumping ok!!

I do agree with doubleU... I also keep on telling myself I can do it. When my mum & hubby saw that I had such a bad engorgement after a wk of delivery, they told me to stop breastfeeding & give formula instead. I was so depressed but deep inside my heart I told myself I must not give up even though I had a very traumatic experience after my 1st delivery. So since this is my 2nd one, I want to try my best. I even seek advices from my friends & whoever are expert in breastfeeding.

Hi doubleU,

May I know if you're having any pain on your nipples when your baby latch on? My nipples are so painful when my gal tried to suckle on it. So I have to use my manual pump to express out breast milk & transfer to milk bottle for her.

When feeding her using milk bottle, at least I know how much she drink. When I let her latch on, she can suck for more than half an hour & still cry. :(

Hi mummies just had my c-sect this morning and delivered my boy without much incident, thankfully! Now resting in bed, feeling v itchy coz of the epidural.

And to all the BFing mummies, you must endure the pain, use hot compresses and massage to help, experiment with holding positions to latch properly (shouldn't be any pain) , use all sorts of pillows and try all the chairs in ur house till you find one that is in the best position for you to nurse! Jy jy coz breast is best!

i actually wanted it to be done today. but at the check up yesterday the dr checked that i wasn't dilated yet. so she said i should wait a few days and have me come down for elective admission.

Yes!! Especially e first suck.. I mean when my boy latch on.. I alway try to bear with it.. Sometimes he will turn his head left n right while holding on to my nipple.. *ouch* but I was thinking if I can go through labour pain.. This is nothing.. Sometimes when I will pump out when he is still sleeping and I need to empty it..

Actually, I will let my boy suck each side for around 30mins.. Which mean 1 hour in total, for him to be satisfy..

Hi all!
I had finally given birth to my darling girl on 15 Dec via c-section.. had been very busy with her and had a tough and tiring job trying to latch her and pump out the milk to increase my supply..

My milk supply is very low.. only about 20 ml for both side and it doesnt seems to increase thou i massage my breast before every pump .. any suggestion how to increase the milk supply ?

My nipple are now cracked and a bit swollen.. so painful everytime she latch on it.. but i dont want to give up cos i want to continue to breastfeed her..

Now i understand y people keep saying mummy is the most "Wei Da" person in the world !

Jia you all mummy and mummy to be!:Dancing_wub:

Its important to eat well to nourish your body during breastfeeding but the best way to increase your supply is to feed on demand, even if it means having to wake up every 2-3 hours to nurse. You should aim to nurse about 8-12 times a day in these early weeks to establish supply.

If you are expressing, aim to express frequently vs expressing for long periods of time.

There are some herbal supplements that also help to boost supply. Never tried them myself but hv read about it, like fenugreek (can buy from Indian shops) and sacred tea.

Anyways, am so zombified now coz baby keeps waking up at night to feed O.O zzz

Sounds like your bb is going through a growth spurt. They will nurse constantly, be very fussy and make you v kan cheong and irritable and really test your patience. But do try to endure and not supplement with FM because your body is trying to increase milk supply to meet the needs of your growing girl.

How much you can express is not an accurate measure of your actual milk supply. Looking at your girl's output (dirty diapers) and weight gain is a more accurate reflection of your supply.

I find kellymom.com a very useful resource for all our bfing concerns. I always find myself reading it esp during our night feeds :) there is a lot of very useful info there.
