Hi marchbear! just touched down yesterday.. Australia is freaking cold.. Sydney was 22degrees and Melbourne lowest was 8degrees in the mountains..
food and shopping sucks.. shops closed at 5 pm and there is not much tv to watch either.. I was dying to be back in Singapore.. tired of eating fish and chips everyday..

How's ur oscar? I going for mine on 23dec.. the last time I went for my scan @ 9wks, baby wasn't moving... some mummies say their baby wave the hands or somersault at 9 wks alrdy.. hmm worried.. -_-

Hi Px22, welcome back. Hope you had a great holiday. The paper that Dr Adrian gave you did he circle P3? If circle P3 it's not OSCAR just a NT scan to check the neck and nose bridge measurement. I did mine on the 9th Dec. Cost me $239.10. But i think it's worth it. I saw my little precious one moving about and waving his/her hands. It took me 40mins to finish the scan coz it just couldnt stop moving to show us how active he/she is. The radiographer even say so cheeky fellow keep waving and moving. No blood test was needed cause of my age. And the radiographer told me the result on the spot and she said it is a good result. So i'm happy. : ) now i am looking forward to my detailed scanning next year 1st Feb.

Have you heard if a mother get shock the baby heartbeat will stop if the mother heartbeat too fast? I got a shock this morning due to a lizard. I am so afraid of lizard that I saw it and i started screaming and running. My heart skipped faster for two secs. Now I so worry if my scream and fast heartbeat will affect my baby. My next appt with Dr Adrian is only next Monday 20th Dec. : ( Dunno want to bring forward the appt anot.

Don't worry about the scan, you will enjoy it. Just that you have to have a full bladder for a clearer scan. My tummy is so bloated and now I gotta wear maternity pants le. hehehe..

No wor i never heard anything abt getting shocks.. dont worry I was almost dying on the plane due to extreme turbulence.. Kept thinking plane might crash and kept sweating.. if wat u say is true then my bb is going to have heart attack too LOL.. I think I having vertigo liao, cos my head has been spinning since I got off the plane till now.. But haha how big is the lizard? I now preggers and still have to catch cockroaches and lizards cos my ILs and the whole family all afraid of insects...

Hi Px22,

I did the OSCAR test (Blood+ not Scan) on Dec 1st and I paid approx.$480. The scan result was out in a few days but the blood test required more days. I am an older mother so I have decided to do this test. From the not Scan, the ratio 1:2429 (cutoff ratio for my age is 1:250). So my gynae advised me to skip the Amnio test as it has a small risk of getting miscarriage. This is my 1st pregnancy and I was 11 weeks 3 days when I did it.

I am sure you will be fine However, for the ease of mind, you might consider doing these tests.

Hi Px22, i'm also curious how Dr Adrian decide which package we should go for.i was also shocked that no blood test was needed. Anyway the nurse from the clinic called last night saying the result of my scan is normal so i guess no further test is needed. But most probably i will ask Dr Adrian how come i dun need blood test during my next visit haahahaha... the nurse didnt ask me to take the 20 weeks scan together with the 12 weeks scan so i guess i will have to pay more for the 20th week scan.

When i ask hw come so ex then she mention cos it includes another detail scan for 20wk which will b cheaper. Wonder hw was ur experience when doin e oscar scan? cos e person who did it for mi push e equipment so hard on my stomach that i can feel pain n v uncomfortable. She said is normal as she nd to get e position of my bb. She was quite harsh. But ve to bear with it. After that i experienced pain for sometimes.. Do u experience this?

Hi, when i did my scan at TMC, my radiographer was i think a Australian lady call Heliose. She was very patient. But at times i feel uncomfortable too. it was like the probe was pressing very hard but i did tell her i feel uncomfortable then she apologise and was more gentle. For me the hospital didnt ask me to take the package, so i paid my NT scan only. But the nurse asked me to book my detailed scanning for next year. Wonder how much more i will pay if i pay these two scans separately.

my woman (i always call her that, she finds wife, wifey too lovey dovey) is experiencing lower back pains and sore nipples. I know it may be weird for a guy to ask but my woman doesn't go online much. apart from massaging for the back, are there any other remedies?

For sore nipples, has anyone tried this:

we saw this on amazon and are not sure if we should order this from Amazon (cos it's the holiday season in the US and mail might be slow). The reviews on amazon are not too bad, anyone tried this before?

Hi, its my first time chancing upon this forum and find it quite interesting. My EDD is 13th June 2011.
Few things that i need advice on:

1. When is the best time to start the pre-natal massage?
2. How are you doing your confinement? Are you getting a Confinement lady? You have someone in your family to do it for you or you are doing it yourself with the help of a maid? Or there are other better alternative?
3. What are some of the tonic recommended for consumption that is beneficial to yourself and baby?
4. I have not started doing any planning for the coming baby. Am i late?

Hi, when i did my scan at TMC, my radiographer was i think a Australian lady call Heliose. She was very patient. But at times i feel uncomfortable too. it was like the probe was pressing very hard but i did tell her i feel uncomfortable then she apologise and was more gentle. Sonographer said scan looks fine but not conclusive so she can't confirm tat bb is doing well.. but bb looks so cute, she kept prodding my tummy and bb was squirming and kicking.. DH was quite mad at her for disturbing bb, but its very heartwarming to see bb wave at us.. and bb understands english! Sonographer was saying "your bb is not in the optimal position for a scan.. " once said, bb started shifting for her to scan.. very amazing!
Now I hope I can know the gender soon otherwise I keep having the urge to call my bb "it"! Marchbear do you know the gender already?

Pullmeundertheglassmoon: I use heatpack on my lower back.. My physiotherapist doesn't recommend massaging the lower back of a pregnant woman she say it might induce contractions or something. Yes sore nipples but I don't really do anything abt it...

hist3ph: Wats a prenantal massage for? My first child so not sure wats that for. My mum's going to do the confinement for me, alternatively you can either get a confinement lady, a maid, or do it yourself by ordering confinement catering. But its very pricy, the menus I saw for a month is about 1800 so I'd rather pay a bit more for a CL.
Not taking tonics, I think the prenatal vitamins and fish oil given by gynae should be sufficient. My MIL doesn't care anyway (this is her first grandchild) so I don't get to eat tonics
Take less bird nest, it causes asthma in babies. My aunt took tons of it and all her 3 kids have very bad asthma.. other mummies on the forum agree too...

My baby was the same size as your baby in week 12 about 6.5cm but the sonographer didnt comment that its too big heehee. My next visit to dr Adrian is on the 17th Jan. Now he only see me once a month seem so long away then i can see my baby on the monitor again. : (

Hi hist3ph, how are you? Welcome to the EDD June 2011 mummy discussion. Here are my answers to your qns.

1.When is the best time to start the pre-natal massage? After much read up, i saw it's only best to do pre-natal massage after 5th month and you have to find those that are specialised in pre-natal massage as i heard they are not suppose to massage the tummy. As for the back, it should only be soft massage. I think mummysg forum has a section on prenatal massage. You can check it out there.

2.How are you doing your confinement? Are you getting a Confinement lady? You have someone in your family to do it for you or you are doing it yourself with the help of a maid? Or there are other better alternative? I am intending to employ a maid to help my MIL with housework and my MIL will help to look after the baby. Since my in laws are vegetarian, i can't get a confinement lady to cook for me although i am non vegetarian. I intend to cater from the confinement food catering for 5 weekdays and my mum will cook for me on the weekends and bring it up to me. This is the best solution so far for my situation.

3.What are some of the tonic recommended for consumption that is beneficial to yourself and baby? Can't comment much as I have not started consuming tonic yet as i am waiting for my mum to cook for me when she is free. Currently I am taking enfamama milk, multvits and fish oil from gynae.
4.I have not started doing any planning for the coming baby. Am i late? Don't worry, I have not do much planning too, just taking it slowly first as I do not want to stress up too much. I only intend to get my baby stuff when I know my baby's gender. : ) By the way, there is a baby expo fair in april next year. Probably can get some good deals there.

I keep imagining that its bb kicking me hahaha.. ever since past week8 felt much better already.. no more nausea or MS. but still feel ultra sleepy all day. Hi Px22, yes i feel sharp pains once in awhile and sometimes alot of pulling. Dr Adrian say it's the womb expanding. Yup my tummy start showing and i had to change my wardrobe coz cant fit into my original clothes anymore. i get headaches very frequent too. : )

ah so i am normal hee hee.. I only bought one maternity shorts and one 3 quarter pants.. cos the tummy area too much cloth so even if my tummy not so big, the pants make them look so.. So I made my own maternity belt to extend my existing work clothes.. maybe u wanna buy one...
