Education Savings Plan

Actually u can adjust the amount, I am paying it using our savings, we also treating it like Fixed Deposit (like the annuity we buy, but we want to spread the risk, thats why we buy diff product from diff coy), cos the rate of return is abt 4% p.a.

U can call their number listed on the website, they can assign a financial adviser for no obligation consultation (dun need pai seh, is their job ok).
My colleague's brother is working for Tokio marine.
I am getting prufirst gift for my current and still considering what to get for my daughter who is coming to 2 years old.

U can consider buying differently so that u can make comparisons. I not sure about Prudential, but TM Asia Life has a reputation for NEVER CUTTING BONUSES.

Triquetra: Hi gal, just to clarify for u, for other cos. endowment plans as compared to PruFirstGift, the biggest difference is, PruFirstGift is only specialised for pregnant mommies. Reason is becos, until now, no other companies dare to protect the pregnant mommy and their unborn babies, so this plan is focused this coverage while adding an education plan for bb after birth. If you really wanna compare endowment plans, then Prudential has similar savings plans as well. And talking about the returns like the :( from MsKoh, it really depends on the year. I do have clients hving :( from T.M. maturity lump sum & a :) for Pru lump sum both on Year 2009 and in the end, they reinvested half the payout with us again. The min. interest rate will still be there one. For endowments right, unless you are already old, else if u r looking at saving short term get $, save another short term get another $, then like that v hard to see $. $ in a lump sum comes from saving for a longer period of time. So for your little gal of 2 yo, i bet u shld hv got her covered 100% for hospitalization (this is a must) right, then maybe u can look at an endowment of 20 yrs. Returns will be much more significant. Not necessary go until 1K per month lah, v xiong for some of us, there are min. sum of like $200 or even $50 depending on the type of plan. MsKoh must be earning alot hehe.. you can PM me more if u want to know more loh, me myself hv alot on savings plans so got do homework already. is ok de, advice is always free de, somemore fellow preggie moms.. hahaha.

ha ha, I dun earned alot, I just dun spent tats all. Cost control is important.

U mentioned that ur client buy TM products and the return no good compared to Prudential, may I noe what the name of the product he bought from TM in case my FA try to sell to me. But so far all my projections on return by TM are as per illustration, no bonuses cut, unlike Prudential, paid $99 for 11 yrs, only take back abt $14k, sianz...........

wah i cannot. i see things must buy, end up always no $. now got bb gal inside worst! Gals got so many things i can buy! Lol~

Hmm.. actually u must compare apple to apple lah, your that 11years prudential endowment is not our highest interest rate plan yet, so if you compare this apple with the orange in TM, then you will feel shortchanged becos they are of different plans. They hv changed names, i think now is called TM Nest Egg (Cash) where u can get cash back every couple yrs. Btw i just saw your NTUC thingy.. Alamak, 40+ still can get annuity plans from other cos, for Prudential, up to age 60 oso can, not only NTUC have lah.. hehe

like i said, similar plans in mkt usually doesn't make a significant difference (unless tt co. dun hv), most of the time is about the service, whether the FA can be with you throughout ur entire life journey, be there for u when u need any claims Choy! at ur finger tips, to customise according to your needs. but if u ask me, whatever plans that is always cheapest in the mkt will always be NTUC lah, but u must minus away some customer service, downtime + comprehensiveness of coverage.

*ignore/pardon/correct me if i talk too direct, pregnant v lazy to think and rephrase my words, but i m not targeting at any co. just some few cents worth. :p

i got buy TM nest egg, my is a 5 yr plan single payment, will mature in year 2013, so far so good, hope will maintain.

I dare not anyhow buy cos I dare not take risk. Think not so many coy allow pp to buy annunity at younger age, tat's why I choose NTUC then cos its Sg base should be quite big.

As for FA, I agreed, last time, I used to buy policies from AIA cos my ex-colleague was an agent, but she only v nice to me when she wanted me to buy, when I asked more abt details or tat time want to make claim, she became v nasty. As I treated her as a good fren, and also wanted to help her to hit sales target, I din ask much so just follow her advice. After she resigned, she handed my polices to her uncle to follow up, first meeting only, her uncle tell me, unless I buy more policies or unless i recommend more clients to him by providing contact details of my other frens / relatives / colleagues, he will not be able to serve me.

So far, I have either redempt or terminated most of my endowment polices with AIA, all except my life policy, cos since tat time young buy liao, now stop really great loss.

As for the prudential policy I bought, it was an agent recommended by my housing agent. I just want to try a little different thingy so that I could tell how different they are, cos I not v good in reading all the reports, at least when I get the money at maturity, then is dollar and dollar compared and I noe how much I actually earned.

Actually, that's true. I'd rather buy from a complete stranger so that when things screw up, I can scold or yell at that person rather than to feel peiseh about it. When buying from friends or friends' friends, sometimes it creates more trouble or it becomes a situation where they gossip too.

ohhh.. unless the plans worked same way, then u can use the dollar to dollar compare.

Eh why u nv lodge complaint to that AIA ?! so RUDE! How dare they! Should get this kinda black sheep outta the industry!

orhh.. your that nest is actually more like a low risk investment plan.. still ok lah.

your that AIA life left how long more to go, how many years hv u paid and what is the coverage? Becos if this plan have to pay until death or age 100, i suggest u can terminate and get a lump sum then get another limited pay life plan, more worth loh!

agreed completely. and sometimes they oso get to know too much financial details about ourself. Like my GE agent, she was a family fren of one of my good fren, so I bought most of my GE policies from her. But when I asked her to chx on an endowment plan, she refused, saying that since I dun have the money to buy the policy, why bother to ask for details. Actually is kind of rude cos I felt that she assume I dun have the money, then looked down on me, she forget that she is actually my agent, she is suppose to serve me.

In the end, my FA from Philip went to OCBC to pretend to want to buy the same policy that I asked for, and got the illustration benefits for me so that I could use it as reference.

Now whenever I use any kind of agents, I use strangers. Like that don't have any feelings of peiseh. Not good service, I can scold without feeling guilty. And I don't feel that the agent is doing me a favour too.

noelsmum: yah, for me, if my frenz is specialized in that area, i will support them and not even shoot a single qn and just pay. just like my house renovation, totally just throw to my fren to do, tell them the design and pay, that's it! And they made a real mess outta it, treat my house toilet like public toilet use, omg! so Yucks! i cant scold too violently so can only keep quiet, now my other frenz who came to my house and liked my house concept ask me to recommend the renovator, i will tell them to go and pick one at any exhibitions instead. no referrals for him! GRrr

Then even my work now, my cold clients (as in not related to me in any way) treat me even better than some of my own friends! Very weird! Own friends ask me for alot of discount for plans and compared me somemore when my cold clients trust me wholeheartedly! OMg~ see lah.. sometimes we tend to take things for granted.

U r right, really need to pay till death, I actually considered terminating it yrs ago, but I had no other life policy except this one. Best is, it din even cover critical illness (cos my fren never explain to me what it contain, the day my policy concluded was the day she need to submit her sale figure, in fact, she asked her colleague to fax me, asked me to sign first then talk later).

Last time just came out to work, she pretented to be my good fren, so fall for tat trick. In fact, she told me that she tried to widen her client exposure by joining alot of courses so that she can know more pp, at first, she won't tell pp she is an insurance agent, only after she show care and friendship, then she will tell them, cos she dun want pp to think that she is nice to them becos she want them to buy policies fr her.

Actually I was not cheated once by fren, in fact twice, cos there was this another girl (3 of us wk in same audit firm), she oso become part time AIA agent, again, she oso befriended me, then oso coned me into buying endowment policies. When I told her abt the first case, she said she won't be like PW, she sure will stay in insurnace line long, ask me not to worry, but she there few months only, then just quit like tat.

Think I really too tian zhen, always met this kind of pp.

I wanted to buy medical insurance with a maternity rider to it in HK. I wrote an email to one of the many insurance brokers and got a quote. Emailed back and forth a whole bunch of questions and then I didn't get the insurance. One year later, decided to buy it. Then wrote to the same insurance broker again. Then a flurry of emails back and forth. And I bought from this complete stranger whom I've not met before. But he was willing to answer my billion and one questions and was polite when I didn't buy it. But compare if you buy from friend or relative. They will probably make snide remarks.

eh i think u go back to check, if the no. of yrs u paid for the premiums already cover the breakeven surrender value, Chop it! is still considered losing out if u compare what is in the mkt now.

Agreed lor, like tat GE agent, she thought she knew me so well. Then in the end, I bought the TM Asia Life Policy, when she came my house, I told her, she quite upset. Hahahaha, she said she thought I wouldn't buy tats why she din bother to explain, if I had show her my "sincereity", she would have try her v best to explain to me.

She bo liao rite, how can i be sure i will buy, of cos must listen and read first mah, yet she won't even want to spend time on that.
