Sometimes it's on trial and error. What works for other babies may not work on yours. Just to share, for milk powder, my elder 2 were on enfalac, while my 3rd was on Similac. No particular reason on why I changed, the hospital recommended and I just continued to give the same brand back home since baby is drinking and pooing well. :)

For other things :
bottles - Avent
Steriliser - pigeon (cheaper and can accommodate Avent bottles)
Diapers - Mamy Poko (feels soft and rarely hv leakages)
bath - Tried various brands, pigeon is not bad. Now, I buy Earth's Best organic ones through online sprees.

For me,I used almost the same brand for both my kids except milk bottles.agreed that diff babies need trial n error for diff items.we tried diff brands of milk formula, diapers n bottles.

Pampers - mamipoko (Winnie the pooh is cute haha),velco sticker is easier ESP baby's so active always.

Milk formula - Wyeth s26 series + karihome goat's milk series mixed for better nutritions.

Bathing items - johnson's & johnson's series for the trusted non-allergy formula.

Clothes detergent - kodomo, hand wash all baby clothes n handkerchiefs, spin dry n hang.

Bottles - avent series for #1 boy, playtex aire vent bottle for #2 girl as she was having too much wind n colic since born that avent 1piece anti-colic system just wasn't good enough.will try to change back avent bottle after she need to change a bigger bottle as playtex bottles are quite small.Son currently changed to Tommie tippee anti-colic bottle too as we wanted to trial for that bottle.

Sterilizer n milk warmer - avent brand, despite the slightly steep price (~$200 each) ,its really value for $ as we have been using it near 3yrs now, bought since son's birth 2yrs+ ago, good n well working condition still.

Bottles cleanser - I use only tap water n avent bottle brush to clean all bottles, teethers n accessories, put them in sterilizer until next usage then take out.

Baby wipes - pigeon for the affordable value in price.

Stroller & carrier - capella light weight stroller bought since son's 10mths old, changing soon to maclaren or not buying anymore as old 1 is getting worn out. Baby carrier bought baby Bjorn air for daughter as she likes carrier more than stroller, son dont sit stroller anymore.

Bedding items- bought a super single bed for son n daughter still sleeping in electric swing sarong at nite, daytime will share son's bed or ours. Pillows using beanies n soft feather pillows.

Clothings n other fabric items - need to trial n error for diff babies, diff brand baby/kids clothes material, pricing n quality diff, might not suit baby too.usually soft cotten front buttons shirts n long pants can never be wrong.my son scare hot,all his clothings had been thin n soft material since borned but he dislike sleeveless, daughter's scare cold, wearing sleepsuits always, only go out then change short sleeve n shorts.

It really depends how you plan to feed your baby - do you plan to breastfeed? And if so will you be returning to work and needing bottles?

For me I am a stay at home mum who breastfed so I didn't ever buy any formula (till now I have never bought formula as my son drinks cow's milk), I bought one Avent bottle and breastpump which I hardly used, and I didn't buy a sterilser. If I had planned properly before I wouldn't have even bought the bottle.

Nursing bra - try on a couple of different ones and see which is most comfortable. For me I absolutely love Triumph Comfort Mama nursing bras because they are so comfortable! Unfortunately they can't be found in Singapore...I think :( I went to so many shops looking for them but they were nowhere to be found.

For things like soap and shampoo, newborns can be washed with water. Use a mild shampoo and soap or bath oil when they start getting stinky, otherwise water is fine as products tend to dry out their delicate skin.

If you're looking for a baby carrier I would definitely recommend the Ergobaby Performance carrier as it is good for both baby and mummy's or daddy's back. It's a bit pricey but worth is as you can carry bubs till they're about 24kg.

I didn't bother buying stuff like special nappy bins or bags for disposable nappies, food preparation stuff like blender/steamer, dummies/pacifiers...To me they are a waste of money but some people might find them a life saver so it depends on your needs as well as budget :)

For my first born i used:
Nuk BPA free milk bttls
Avent pacifirer
Avent hair and body wash
milk powder Enfalac till now enfagrow
Diapers pampers active and cruiser
Nuk bttls cleaner
Tollyjoy baby laundry
Carrier baby bojon syngery
Pram Quinny, mriclite

For my unborn baby
Medala BPA free milk bttls
Carrier Ergo
Pram Buagoboo bee(most prob)
the rest will be the same as my first born

One thing im very particular is BPA free.

Bottles: BFree Plus.
Was recommended by a staff from hospital when my niece was born a premie and had colic problems. It's good but more tedious to wash.

Diapers: Mamy Poko.
Diff babies suit diff brands of diapers. So far Mamy Poko works best for my boy cos absorbency is great and no leakage.

Baby bath: Kodomo top to toe wash.
Tried J&J top to toe wash but found it too drying.

Baby wipes: Baby U.
Baby U is available at ntuc n currently my favourite. Made in Australia n fragrance free n comes in 80 wipes per packet. 2 packets only cost $4.95, very value for money!! It's thick and big enough, can use one hand to pull out the wipes just like Pigeon's. Huggies wipes also not bad.

Pram / stroller: Capella 750.
Love the big basket but too challenging for me to bring baby out alone. Still on a lookout for a lighter one.

Carrier: Manduca, Hippy Chick Hipseat, Babysafe sling.
My boy does not always like to be carried in the Manduca, so the Hipseat is my next saviour. Sling is good for newborns.

Pacifier: Avent.
Used to use NUK but it leaves a round mark around my boy's mouth.

Powder: Pureen pure corn starch.
I read that talc is not good for babies so avoid talcum powder if u can.

Diaper cream: Drapolean.

Laundry wash: Kodomo.

Bottle detergent: Pigeon.

Sterilizer, bottle warmer: Pigeon.

Milk powder: Tried NAN, Friso and Enfa. Am sticking to Enfa now.

Miscellaneous:
California calendular cream - heals all sorts of rashes well, at least for my boy!
Anti mosquito sticker patch.
Ruyi oil.
Baby scissors for cutting baby's nails. It's safer and easier than using nail clippers.

Feeding: I'm SAHM, breastfed then weaned boy off to fresh milk at 14-18 months old. He didn't like bottle, so we used a mini cup to feed him occasionally when latching on is not possible.

Diapers: we use a range of modern cloth diapers, can be reused for baby #2 who's arriving

Wipes: we use cloth wipes with water, no add chemicals

Carriers: baby sling for newborn, then Beco Butterfly II ergonomic carrier

There're many baby product reviews on my blog, MummysReviews.com, so feel free to read through the categories you're interested in.

For my newborn who's turning two months soon

Bottles: Avent anti-colic
Sterilizer: Pigeon
Breastpump: Avent single electric (with Nanny milkbags and Avent VIA cups for storage)
Pacifier: Tomy Tippee & Avent
Formula: He is on BM (although i plan to supplement him with Enfa after 6mths)

Wipes: Pigeon
Diapers: Mamypoko
Bath items: Johnson & Johnson's
Powder: Carries Kids bought from Msia cos i love the grape scent!
Laundry wash: Pigeon
Diaper cream: Secura

Stroller: Peg Perego Pliko P3
Carrier: Babybjorn (have yet to use coz eyeing a Manduca instead)

Clothes: A good mix of Old Navy (i love their material), Babygap, Mothercare, Tollyjoy, Pigeon...
