There isn't any specific time. However, coming to 2, should be ok for you to start to try to train him.

Probably about an interval of 20 -30 minutes.

Most importantly, you need to communicate to him what are you doing.. and why are you doing this. Next, don't pass your anxiety to him.

That's was my past experience with my 1st, so anxious to 'achieve' something.. and you know what... my girl responded...' I tried my best Mummy, nothing comes out.'

It helps to get a 'potty book' to show your boy the steps. Can borrow from library. Mine loves to read 'My Potty Book' by Kathryn Smith.

Hi welcome here,
For me, beside reading the potty book for boys to my son.
One day, I stop wearing the diaper for him, explained to him that he's not wearing the diaper, therefore if he needs to pee, he has to tell me.
However, every 10-15 mins, I'll bring the potty to him.
I did that everyday until one day he was able to control his pee and was able to tell me whenever he wanted to pee.
All these, takes time and patience.
