actually private IVF is okie de....difference btw private n gov is just a gov subsidy 3k....other than tt is the same no worries.... and the waiting time is much faster in fact no waiting time...est. is 12k-16k....im currently going thru IVF under Thomson medical....if u wan more info u can let me noe...and to add on further, my doc is a very detailed person n his team of nurses r very helpful... his success rate is very high...

i tried IUI one time at my own gynae but give up cos my hubby condition not very gd...

If not successful will need to move on to IVF, n looks like have to go back to KKH for IVF cos can't afford to do at private. See if you can keep records of all the tests you have done. I also keep all original copy of the test i've done. It will be easier if you happen to change dr. And i don't think they will run through all the test again but maybe 1 or 2.
The headache part is to choose which dr to go to. Anyway... hope ur last try on SO-IUI will work, then all headache is gone. hehe.

Ya I agree, I also stay away frm those who dun understand or avoid situations tat they may ask. I was seeing Dr Yap frm Mt E, dunno if the same Dr Yap u are seeing. My current consultation charge is $60 per consultation, I find it cheaper than KKH, cos i went KKH before this n they charge me $90, I only went in for less than 15mins n the doc charged me for extended consultation so total abt $120 lor! Was so angry! Some more the doc didn't even look thru my medical history in details n just prescribed 3-4 mths of clomids n progesterone for my hub if I didn't rem wrongly, n say see me in 3-4 mths time. ;(

Mine is Dr Yap Lip Kee. He is good and very detail though the charges is a bit ex. His nurses are also very helpful.

Ya, if can I also prefer private n prefer to stick to current doc cos I have been seeing him every mth since march this yr, but too ex Liao, he said $13-$15k n can only use $6k frm medisave n the rest in cash wor. Just called KKH n they said procedure is $9-$11k, can use $6k Medisave n $3k subsidy, so only nid to come out ard $2k max wor. Quite a big difference. n most sad is their earliest slot to see the fertility doc is in Jan n earliest appt for IVF as of now is already in May 2012!

Didn't he do any test on you? If so, there should also be record of ur test... I doubt they will give u copies of the cards he had written on but no harm asking. I think the most important is the blood test, HSG, latest Pap smear, semen test and sperm washing records.
Anyway, dont worry too much first after all u still have one more try. Though it's gd to plan ahead but giving urself too much stress will not be gd for ur body.. dont forget u need a stress free body to help u to conceive. ;-) I know it's easy said then done but still.. u must give it a try..ok.

As for myself, haven't gone for any IUI yet, tried on our own this cycle. Am now 10 dpo... 3 more days to my next cycle. Was on progesterone for 10days and tomorrow will be the last day of taking it. Don't know if it is normal cos for the first few days of taking it, i was completely normal but around day 4 and day 7, i got this terrible dizziness thought i was abt to faint...lol. Then it became normal again. I called the nurse and check with her.. she say its normal but it will usually happen on the first 1-2 days of taking it and how come mine happen after so many days but still, she ask me to continue taking it. Anyway, i will be gg in on CD 2 next cycle to do my blood test... n we shall see what is the outcome then...

Thanks for your encouragement, tats v sweet of u, I will try to take it easy. I guess I just wanna find out more n dont want to waste anymore time, ESP when go govt hospital everything also must q n wait for mths. As for this IUI, I am really not pinning much hopes, since twice failed , maybe IUI doesn't really work for us. Some more my doc only increase my dosage for the injection a little cos he doesn't want to over stimulate, in the end I think this month also only 1 follicle. i am actually more hopeful to do IVF, I think it has much higher chance n shld work better for us if our prob is more becos of the quality of the sperms, so kind of look forward n wanna do it ASAP if this cycle fails.

As for the tests results, the sperms results all I have. The HSG I did beginning this yr I think, w my previous gynae, hope it's still valid cos the gal at KKH told me the tests usually valid if within 6 mths. I can't rem if I did hormones tests here w this doc, maybe I did at KKH before I came here, have to check my records. I will try asking the records frm my doc re the scans, like the follicles size, etc, anyway I paid for the scans.

You also jiayou k? Wats CD2 btw? How come I read so many people here like always do blood test one? I think I maybe only did once at the beginning. I heard progesterone may give pregnancy symptoms, I didn't get any when I took that time. But this mth after increase the dosage of the injection, dunno is it becos of the hormornes, I feel v easily irritated n flared up quite easily these few days.

But not only $3k difference lei, if at KKH say total bill is $11k, I only nid to come out w $2k cash, but if private n total bill is $15k, I nid to come out w $9k cash, it's $7k difference. Some more if take the low side, then KK $9k total bill, I may not even nid to come out cash, but private if on low side is $13k, I still nid to come out w $7k cash.

As for the test results, I really hope so, I just hope they dun ask me to repeat the tests which I have already taken before.

My doc so far did not ask me to repeat any test and currently I'm undergoing ivf.... Ivf stands a better chance of pregnancy... I tried IUI once failed badly ... N my gynae very gd... Seeing the condition he suggest we don waste money on IUI n go for ivf though he don earn a single cents out of ivf.... Actually so far I'm still on the first mth... The cos is around $600 on first mth... Unless u wait for my whole cycle then I'm able to share with u hw much cash I pay....

Frankly speaking depends on ur priority.... I may not b rich but priority is having a baby so I just ignore the cash part since is just 3k diff... At first my gynae did suggest kkh but I reject... As for the payment it is not one time go pay up the cash so my hubby n my earning every mth can cover the cost here n there.... Mayb u like to discuss with ur hubby oso.... Cos financial can b just nice when going thru ivf meaning got to giv up holidays for the yr...

And oso is lots of things happening which force me to choose private cos I simply can't wait 6mths just for an ivf.... Oso I'm diagnose with PCOS ... With this situation private hosptial is better cos they r more attentive

Wanna share my small findings with you, since I was once confused on whether to go private or govt.

To me, the difference in price is too much, and since I have quit my job to concentrate on this fertility treatment, I chose Kandang Kerbau Hospital. I wanna try out their 'production' line. So, my 1st IUI I go ahead with Kandang Kerbau Hospital, and though I failed, I am happy with their service. All the nurses are very friendly, even when they are extremely busy. But, going along with this, you will see different doctor during every scanning, and you will not know who will do the insemination for you. So, you will not get personalised service. And, really the waiting time is long.

Walk-for-Guts

Parkway Cancer Centre (“PCC”) will be launching a series of activities leading up to Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month in March to raise awareness for the number one cancer in Singapore. Starting with a community walk to the recently opened Punggol Waterway, the Centre hopes to attract more than 500 participants and increase knowledge of this cancer which can be non-fatal with early detection and treatment.

[Singapore, December 2011] Colorectal Cancer is the most common cancer in Singapore with more than 1500 cases reported each year(1). According to studies, Singapore has the highest incidence rate in Southeast Asia: 35.1% in men and 29.9% in women, more than twice that of the next country. These rates have been increasing at a startling average annual rate of approximately 2.6% and 2.35%, for men and women, respectively(2).
“The good news is that the rate of mortality from colorectal cancer has been dropping for the last 15 years despite the increase in incidence of colorectal cancer in Singapore. Greater accuracy in screenings, early detection of colorectal cancer, and more effective treatments are the main reasons for the drop in mortality rate caused by colorectal cancer,” shares Dr Ang Peng Tiam,Medical Director and Senior Consultant Medical Oncology, PCC.
“It is important for the public to know that early detection of colorectal cancer can lead to a complete cure and that the government has recently allowed the use of CPF Medisave for screenings such as mammogram and colonoscopy. With our series of activities, we hope to raise awareness of colorectal cancer and the screenings that are available, including the self-check home kits and colonoscopy, with the latter showing greater accuracy in the early detection of colorectal cancer.”

As for the HSG test, mine was done last yr and my current gynae seem to be ok with tat. The only test he wants me to do is the blood test cos my pervious gynae did not do it for me. And actually that should be the first thing to do to check if my hormones is normal, can't believe she actually left tat out. I think i am so much behind you... have not done blood test, still have to send my dh for 2nd SA, not even close to doing IUI... and so many PH in Dec & Jan - means the chances of getting everything going will have to be delay. But lately, i think i am really learning to take things as it come cos it don't seem to be in my mind all the time as compare to before.LOL.

Btw, CD2 = Cycle Day 2... like wat i say earlier, blood test is actually the basic which is why everyone here usually have to do one. I must agree tat all this med really mess up the hormones... it makes me irritated easily, emotional and gives me dizziness. Hope everything will be back to normal soon...

Anyway, Good Luck tomorrow... I pray that one of the strong and healthy swimmer will meet ur beautiful egg that is waiting there. Keep me updated... and remember to take it easy. I will also be sending my dh semen for SA tomorrow... So lets hope tat we will both receive gd news....

I hv juz done my 2nd IUI on 10th Dec 11. and hopping to hear good news 2wk later. if realy not successful ,am thinking of going to see Dr Yap to do IVF in MT e..My friend had his first child and 2nd one done with IVF with him. so I thought maybe his success rate would be high. How abt u ? r u also doing IVF or IUI?

I am currently doing natural IUI. though i can do a 3rd, but i may not wish to wait anymore cos. i hope to find someone more profession in assited reproduction. My current doc is my prev. gynae - thomson medical. - Dr m. tan. but I am not sure if she is good in helping to conceive as well. I have tried to do 3 times of IUI, only 2 has been completed, 1 iui has been aborted due to follicles not matured. also, for IUI,t I need to catch the timing exactly, sometimes, i may missed the cycle cos, my husband is also not able to make it on the day I supposed to do IUI. it happend 2 times before. And i feel so disappointed, that since I am paying already, but I still could not have it done due to timing constraint. Hence, I am really thinking if this cycle is not successful, i would go for IVF, do not want to keep wasting time. problem with thomson Ivf is they have juz moved their fertility center to novena, am i think if i wanna do IVF there, I may have to shuffle here and there between thomson and novena. Hence, I want to find a doc with high sucess rate. am in my 2ww wait now -. keeping my fingers cross. good luck to both u and me.

Oic.. Whatever it is... Just follow ur heart as long as u r comfortable.

There are a couple of doc that have quite high success rate but just which one u prefer. My first consultation with Dr Yap was around $300 plus cos honestly he spend nearly half an hr with me and it also include a test (can't remember wat test was tat) and 10days of progesterone pill. If I'm not wrong, if it's a short consultation.. It should be around $85 - $100.

Just out of curiosity... Why don't u try one cycle of SO-IUI? Cos like my case... I am gg to try natural IUI first then after 2 cycle if it doesn't work, then I will try at least 1 SO-IUI before moving on. Cos maybe with the medication it can help to stimulate more egg and also it can help with the timing. U will be given an injection to also stimulate ovulation.

Anyway... Hope tat u don't have to go for anything else and hope u hit the Jackpot this time round! Hehe.

As for this IUI, I am really not pinning much hopes, since twice failed , maybe IUI doesn't really work for us. Some more my doc only increase my dosage for the injection a little cos he doesn't want to over stimulate, in the end I think this month also only 1 follicle. i am actually more hopeful to do IVF, I think it has much higher chance n shld work better for us if our prob is more becos of the quality of the sperms, so kind of look forward n wanna do it ASAP if this cycle fails.

As for the tests results, the sperms results all I have. The HSG I did beginning this yr I think, w my previous gynae, hope it's still valid cos the gal at KKH told me the tests usually valid if within 6 mths. I can't rem if I did hormones tests here w this doc, maybe I did at KKH before I came here, have to check my records. I will try asking the records frm my doc re the scans, like the follicles size, etc, anyway I paid for the scans.

You also jiayou k? Wats CD2 btw? How come I read so many people here like always do blood test one? I think I maybe only did once at the beginning. I heard progesterone may give pregnancy symptoms, I didn't get any when I took that time. But this mth after increase the dosage of the injection, dunno is it becos of the hormornes, I feel v easily irritated n flared up quite easily these few days.
