If got 4 attacks in 6months, it may not be brochitis anymore. It might be asthma Liao. Ur child got sensitive nose/allergic rhinitis/family history of any kind of sensitivity/sensitive skin?

Hi need some advice.
My baby has been coughing on and off close to one month and having runny nose that is clear in colour.
Doctor say there is no plegm in the lungs, and he suspect could be some allergy issues.
But when he cough I could hear plegm inside the airway.
Seen the doctor for about 3 times. Everytime he give a new medicine and ask to come back for review. Until now like no improvement.
For allergy case does it take so long to recover?
Got any advice on which doctor is good for my baby?

My son had got bronchitis several times before he turned 2. He has never caught it ever since but sometimes some short episodes of cough. However, my daughter never had this problem.

I tried using anti-dust mites cover for all of our bed sheets. Perhaps it helped.

My girl was born premature and started having all airway problems when she was 7 months old. We wash her bed sheet twice a week and no stuff toys on the bed. Stuff toys are washed every 2 weeks and toys are clean with Dettol every month. She still has this problem. Until we found out, 1) she's sensitive to the rubber mat (with alphabet by Eva) we replaced it and she stops coughing. 2) We went to see a GP after seeing all the specialist, he said my girl has atopic sinus. When the weather changes, she will start having running nose which blocked up her airway causing her to cough and phlegmy. He prescribed Zyrtec and Singulair, and she usually recovers after a week. 3) She's sensitive to mould, so we put her in our room and repaint her bedroom, and put her back after 2 weeks. Till now, my girl is still using Zyrtec. Sometimes, I'll boil some chuan bei for her to clear the phlegm. She's turning 6 soon and hardly has such problem now.

Do note also that there are some food to avoid for young children. Never give infant, 1) barley which can cause gastritis, 2) Honey which is consider poison for babies as they are unable to break down the substance and it becomes fatal, 3) Egg white as they may be allergic (do google for info on MMR injection related to egg white).
Never give toddler nuts, beans, kidney beans. This will cause them to be allergic to nuts and could be fatal too.
Avoid fish contain high in mercury for young children.
Take care and happy parenting!

Hi Isabelandrew, may I know how old is your girl? Beside environment that can affect your girl's airway, food is another cause. I switched my girl to goat's milk and noticed a great improvement on her appetite. Her stomach is less bloated, she's not as phelgmy, hardly vomit and no more constipation. You may want to keep track on the food that she's eating and check back every time she's uncomfortable. There are few possible causes 1) Cheese, 2) Chicken, 3) Grapes, 4) Soya bean milk and 5)Gluten. If you are giving her banana, do check with the elderly aunties which type of banana is suitable for kids. Never buy the del monte big banana. It's too "cold" for their lungs.
You may want to consider getting an air filter if you are sure it's the dust. Avoid vacuuming the floor in the room that she's in. Never fold the blankets and make the bed when she's sleeping near. Remove her mattress monthly and wipe her bed with lukewarm plain water. Avoid as many cleaning agent as possible. There are kids sensitive to floor detergent. Always use children clothes detergent to wash their clothes. My girl will sneeze and sneeze when she smell Persil/Spin clothes detergent.
You may want to consider to bring her to a good Chinese physician to build her health back.

My girl was unwell for quite a while around 4 years old. I've seen many doctors but after she's going to get well, she was sick again. So I went to this lady Chinese Physician near my residence and she said that some kids has this "Chang Ta"/Growing up sickness. She prescribed some tonic and after taking for 3 weeks, my girl is well and started to put on weight. Hence, I really believe Chinese medicine does work to tackle some illness and to improve the health and vitality. This physician is specialized in woman and children only.
I had terrible cold sweat after giving birth to my younger girl. (thanks to one of my lousy confinement lady) I seen specialist and they asked me to do a minor surgery which I refused. I went to see this lady physician and took 3 months of herbs. I no more sweat like crazy. Can you imagine, I have to change 12 sets of clothings everyday? Even when sleeping in aircon room?
