Hi there mummies!

Can you share your experiences travelling overseas via plane with a baby? I had mine when my dd is 4mos old. But at time my dd just slept the whole 4hrs. Was thinking to travel again but im concerned my dd is now 12mos and im paranoid that she will have tantrums on board. She's a highly spirited baby. Only naps for 30mins and easily gets fussy when she cant have what she wants. Or maybe i should wait a little bit more like when shes 15mos maybe she will be more managble. :)

Here's one of my Fav guide page:
You can read more here Tips on Traveling with Children and Babies

Being on an airplane with a bored child is not a fun experience. Young children cry or whine, older kids might try to run up and down the aisle or annoy the person in front of, or next to them.
Parents can ensure a more pleasant trip for themselves and those surrounding them by planning ahead and packing engaging activities for their children.
For older children, consider bringing a deck of playing cards. There are many card games children enjoy playing. 500 Rummy, War, Old Maid, and 21 are great to pass the time.
Pocket versions of popular board games will entertain the kids and won’t take up much room in the carry on bag. Most pocket or travel versions of board games are magnetic to minimize the risk of pieces getting lost or falling off the board during play.
Self –contained drawing games such as Etch-a Sketch ®, and Magna Doodle ® allow your child to draw, write, or play games such as hangman without burning through a lot of paper.
Coloring books and crayons are light and don’t take up a lot of room in the carry on bag. They’re great for children of all ages.
Be sure to bring along your child’s favorite books. Reading a well known and loved book is comforting and will help your child feel more secure on the plane.
Parents and children can take turns telling each other a story. One person starts by giving one or two lines of the story, the next person continues with the story until they have no more to add. Continue around until the story is finished. It might be fun to record the story on tape recorder or cell phone to listen to later or share with family and friends at your destination.
With a little planning, your child can stay busy and have fun. Who knows, you and your child may come to enjoy flying and playing games together.

Perhaps trying a shorter plane journey (< 3 hrs) would give you less apprehension. Babies at 12 months can be super active and curious of their surroundings. Taking off during their usual sleeping time helps as they will fall asleep easily when the oxygen level in the plane decreases during take off... from my baby's experience. Viewing photos and videos from my mobile is something that my baby likes so that keeps him occupied for while too...

hi, can you share your experience on the plane with your 4 month old baby at that time? Do you carry your baby all the way? I heard you dont have to purchase another flight ticket for baby, so that means you only have one seat and you have to carry baby all the way?

Yup... if you are lucky to get an empty spot then okay.. but when sleeping they'd be in the bassinet most of the time

when my daughter was around 13 months old, we took her on a 5 hours flight to hong kong.
going there was rather smooth, as we booked a morning flight around 4am and once we board the plane, i pat her to sleep.
She only woke up when we was about to land, then gave her biscuits (new type of biscuits that we never offered her before) to eat. Then her pacifier to suck for the air pressure. But when we were coming back, she did not want to sleep though we chose the night flight( which was her sleeping time as well). Thus, she cried when the plane take off , gave her pacifier and i used my fingers to block her ears which prevent the air pressure. it works! Then, she fallen asleep after all those crying, so my whole trip was still pretty alright!
1)Bring some new toys or food that your child had nvr get in touch before to chew on flight!

I intend to bring my baby to Taipei next year when he's about 7 month old. Also thinking whether will it be tough. Did you guys buy an infant ticket or just carry the baby onboard without ticket??

U need to buy an infant ticket for ur baby.. The price is hardly anything.. I have not yet had a baby, but will be taking her on a flight when she's quite young.. From what I've read up its easier carrying a baby when they r much smaller as they tend to sleep more.. So just keep a boob or a bottle ready for take offs and landings..

Yes, i travelled with my kid since she was 1 month old. She's a perfect little traveller and still is. Just remember to have everything within reach in case he/she needs milk or a pacifier (helps with the pressure during take off/landing) or a favourite toy.

Infant tickets do not cost much. Airlines like jetstar charge about $50 per way.
